The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dharan Hospital on September 19, 2024, marking the beginning of a three-year collaboration aimed at enhancing academic, research, and healthcare opportunities. This partnership aims to pave the way for Facilitating joint research initiatives in biomedical engineering and healthcare innovations, Providing hands-on training for students and faculty members to bridge the gap between academia and industry and Assisting students with internship and job placement opportunities in the healthcare sector.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prashan Medical Technologies on February 6, 2025, to strengthen industry-academia collaboration. This partnership aims to provide BME students with industry exposure, including expert lecture sessions, short-term industrial inplant training, and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence. Additionally, the MoU focuses on enhancing placement opportunities for competent students, ensuring they gain practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills to excel in the biomedical sector.
On 04.05.2024, The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, signed MOU on exploring the potential for collaboration in areas such as Opportunities for the establishment of articulation agreements, eg. 2+2, 4+1 and 1+1, Joint Research Activities in the field of mutual interest, Reciprocal Exchange of Students and other areas of possible interest and collaboration.
Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, signed MOU with Universita, Politecnica Delle Marche, Italy (UNIVPM) on May 30, 2024. This agreement opens up exciting opportunities such as Exchange of Students, and Staff exchange programs. Through this partnership, both institutions will engage in collaborative research, Institutional and cultural programs, and Exchange of Research Information.

1) MOU signing with Sri Gokulam Hospital: The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Gokulam Hospital, Salem, on December 8, 2023. This partnership aims to provide students and faculty with hands-on clinical exposure, facilitate joint research initiatives, and support the development and implementation of innovative biomedical solutions. By leveraging shared expertise and infrastructure, this collaboration will enhance practical learning, bridge the gap between academia and industry, and contribute to advancements in healthcare and biomedical technology.
2) MOU signing with Shanmuga Hospital Pvt. Ltd: The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanmuga Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Salem, on December 8, 2023, to foster collaboration in research, hospital training, resource sharing, and technology transfer. This partnership aims to provide hands-on clinical exposure, facilitate joint research initiatives, and support the development and implementation of innovative healthcare solutions. By leveraging expertise and resources, this collaboration will enhance industry-oriented learning, equip students with practical knowledge, and contribute to advancements in biomedical engineering and patient care.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology, has entered into a one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hospitech Healthcare Consultancy LLP, Bangalore, on December 19, 2023. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by fostering innovation and skill development in the biomedical sector. Key Areas of Collaboration includes Technology Transfer & Commercialization, Research & Development and Providing specialized training programs for students and faculty to enhance their expertise in healthcare technologies.
On the 11th of October 2023, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology inked a MoU with Dr.Sasi Eye Care, Salem. This partnership aims to pave the way for a Center of Excellence to develop, design new innovative products. Through this collaborative approach, the Educational Institution focuses on knowledge through research and imparting through hospital industry partnership, specialized project training, shared facilities, and targeted training sessions for both faculty and students. They are instrumental in advancing research set to yield innovative outcomes and contribute to joint efforts in product development.
Sona College of Technology, Department of Biomedical Engineering has signed MoU with Ammani Hospital, Salem on 11th October 2023, is a key to catalyse innovation and growth in healthcare technology. Our collaborative R&D efforts results the joint work of innovations and product development. This collaboration facilitates the scope of establishing a centre for Excellence, Expert training for special projects, Sharing of facilities, Joint venture programs, sponsored projects, Specialised training for faculty and students.

Department of Biomedical Engineering has signed MoU with ATHEENAPANDIAN PRIVATE LIMITED on 11 February, 2021 for providing the Biomedical Equipment In-Plant Training to all the Biomedical Engineering passionates in Demonstrating, Dismantling, Trouble-shooting and Reassembling of Biomedical Equipment of almost 60 Biomedical Equipments.
Under the MoU signed, Department of Biomedical Engineering student’s association–IETE student’s forum has conducted “TWO DAYS HANDS-ON TRAINING PROGRAM ON BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY” for Second and Third-Year students of BME on 02.06.2022 & 03.06.2022 by “ATHEENAPANDIAN PRIVATE LIMITED, TAMIL NADU.

The MoU was successfully signed between the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sona College of Technology and “AMTZ - Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone, Andhra Pradesh ” at AMTZ CAMPUS on 15.9.2022. AR / VR software tool “EON-XR platform” 10 no. of licenses has been sponsored worth INR 5, 00,000 - by AMTZ, Vizag and it has been installed in Medical Informatics Laboratory.
Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) is a medical technology park with Common Manufacturing Facilities & Common Scientific Facilities that include specialized laboratories, warehousing and testing centers such as the Center for Electromagnetic compatibility and safety testing, Centre for Biomaterial Testing, Center for 3-D printing, Centers for Lasers, MRI Magnets, Gamma Irradiation, Moulds, and many other industrial service centers.
