Now, a cooking club at Sona College of Technology!
Understanding the importance of encouraging students to learn to cook, the Sona College of Technology has now come up with a cooking club called SET (Sona's Eat & Treat).
The objective of the cooking club, which was inaugurated on January 30, 2021, will be to motivate students to learn cooking as it is an essential skill today. The lack of basic cooking skills often forces students to eat out on a regular basis, which in turn has a telling impact on their health.
Those students who do not know to cook often resort to consuming unhealthy food items such as instant noodles, fried dishes and fast foods. To bring down such instances, the SET has now been started in the college.
Apart from encouraging students and staff to learn new cuisines, the cooking club will also look to give a modern twist to traditional delicacies. The club will make efforts to inculcate healthy food habits among students and faculty members.
The club plans to conduct online cooking and baking classes, live demonstration workshops by executive chefs. It also has plans to take students on visits to organic farms and provide a helping hand to society by contributing food to needy people. This apart, it also plans to conduct health campaigns.
The club also intends to start a café that is run by students and faculty. This is a popular concept in foreign universities but something which has never got implemented in our country.
The club will conduct cooking competitions and serve the winning menu as a new menu every month as the cafe project.
