PROF.Dr.S.R.R.SENTHIL KUMAR
Principal

A veteran academician, an inspiring teacher, researcher, administrator and a successful Civil Engineering practioner, Professor, Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar has donned multiple key roles in his professional career spanning 33 years, which includes his teaching and research experience abroad.

He is currently the Principal of Sona College of Technology, Salem - a premium technology education institution in Tamilnadu.

Professor Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar has always been passionate about transferring the latest expertise and knowledge from the institution to the field. During his career, he has worked for 6 years in the construction industry contributing significantly to the development of civil construction projects in and around Coimbatore.

Professor Dr.Senthilkumar's academic and research side could be glimpsed from several of his published works. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers in reputed, refereed national and international journals that explore new frontiers in civil engineering topics. These published works have gained high impact factor. He is listed as one of the top ranking scientists in AD Scientific Index 2022 at 16th position.

Having close ties in the global academic circuit, PROF.Dr.Senthilkumar has delivered several special invited talks at global forums in countries like Thailand and South Korea. Recently, he has visited various universities and institutions in United Kingdom, Europe, Scotland, Singapore, Oman, UAE, Thailand and South Korea for interactions with officials and for firming up collaborations in the area of Faculty / Student research. He has signed several MoUs during these visits.

He serves on various committees of academic and professional bodies at the national and international levels. PROF.Dr. Senthilkumar holds the position of an Executive Chair at Sona-IIT Madras Incubation Cell. In this capacity of an Executive Chair, he mentors many young entrepreneurs through Sona–IITMIC Incubation Foundation.

Under his leadership, Sona has obtained financial grants which include Rs.1697.48 lakhs for the research and development projects, Rs.626.14 lakhs for testing and consultancy services, 128 patents have been filed and 28 patents are granted. An experienced and knowledgeable examiner, he has evaluated 4 Indian Doctoral Theses (as a foreign Examiner) and 4 Doctoral Research Scholars have completed their Ph.D under his guidance.

Prof.Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar is a recipient of the following awards:

• ‘Outstanding Leader in Higher Education’ Award for the year 2022 at 14th Elets Higher Education Summit, Chennai.
• ‘Digital Leaders’ Award for the year 2021 by Infosys Campus Connect Conclave – Principal’s Meet 2021.
• ‘Bharathia Vidya Bhavan National Best Engineering College Principal’ Award for the year 2018 presented during the 48thAnnual Convention of Indian Society for Technical Education.
• Best ISTE Chapter Chairman Award for the year 2017 by Tamilnadu Section, Indian Society for Technical Education, New Delhi.
• Award of Excellence - for the significant contributions towards the development of higher education and research during Indian Technology Congress’16.
• “Edu Creators” Award (Sep 2015) from SAI Creators, India.
• ‘Research Excellence’ Award from Indus Foundation, USA, during Indo-Global Education Summit 2013.
• ‘Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraska’Award for the outstanding achievement in the field of Education from International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi, and ‘Gold Medal’ for the outstanding achievement in the field of Education from Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi, for the year 2010.

Undoubtedly, he is better known as an institution builder and takes Sona to new heights year on year, both in academics and in R & D fronts, while making tangible contributions to his passionate Civil Engineering field.
