Students of Civil Department, Sona College of Technology, have participated in the Smart India hackathon '23 at Forge, Coimbatore, and have bagged the first place with a cash prize of ₹ 1 lakh. They have designed a solution for the rising crisis of Construction and Demolition Waste Pollution, by incorporating cement bag waste in the construction industry using bricks and blocks. The team was mentored by Dr.R Malathy and Dr.Karuppasamy Narayanan and the team was led by Harshini E.K. The team members include R.Mano Marga Dharshini, Madhuraghavan V, M Hari Prasath, Kirubanithi and Dhinesh Kannan. It is to be noted that the team from Civil Engineering department has won the prize second time in a row.
