The centenary celebration of the esteemed leader of the Sona Educational Institutions, Mr.C.Valliappa,was held on 28/07/2024 at the Sona College campus.
The event featured a welcome dance and pranayama yoga dance performed by children from the Sona Valliappa School. Mr. Chocko Valliappa and Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, Vice Chairmen of Sona Institutions, delivered the welcome address. Following this, a short film showcasing the life journey of Mr. C. Valliappa was screened.
A spiritual discourse was delivered by Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji, the Peetadhipathi of Sri Kailasa Ashram Mahasamsthan (Bangalore). A biography of Mr. C. Valliappa, titled “Roots and Branches,” was released. The book was released by the Honorable Minister of Urban Development of Tamil Nadu, Mr. K. N. Nehru, and received by Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motors, Chennai, and Mr. Balasubramanian, Chairman of Bannariamman Institute of Technology, who also gave congratulatory speeches.
Following this, the District Collector of Salem, Ms. R. Brinda Devi, IAS, Salem Mayor Mr. R. Ramachandran, Member of Parliament Mr. T. M. Selvaganapathy, MLAs Mr. Rajendran and Mr. Arul, Mr. P.L.K. Palaniappan, founder of the Rathna Groups, Mr. Lena Narayanan, Chairman of Kasi Nattukottai Nagarathar Charities, Mr. R. Nagarajan, Trustee of Sri Bhakta Varaprasada Anjaneya Temple, and Dr. V. Veerappan, Chairman of Desolve Semiconductor, attended and gave their congratulatory addresses.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Dr. K. Arthanari, Chairman of Sri Gokulam Hospitals, Mr. Sellappan, Chairman of Swelect Energy Systems, and Sister A.S. Celina Augustine Mary, founder of Lotus Home. The Vice Chancellors of Anna University, Dr. Velraj, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Dr. Narayanasamy, and Periyar University, Dr. R. Jeganathan, participated in this prestigious event.
Subsequently, Dr. V. Karthikeyan, Principal of Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, received the Best Engineer Award. Dr. S. R. R. Senthilkumar, Principal of Sona College of Technology, Dr. M. Kadhar Nawaz, Principal of Sona College of Arts and Science, Mrs. I. J. Kavitha, Principal of Sona Valliappa Public School, and Dr. P. Naresh Kumar, Principal of Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga, also delivered congratulatory speeches.
Mr. C. Valliappa, Chairman of Sona Institutions, gave the presidential address, and Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, Vice Chairman of Sona Institutions, delivered the vote of thanks.
