The students of Sona College of Technology proudly celebrated the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song “Vande Mataram” on 7th November 2025 at the PG Auditorium. The event honored the timeless composition by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee (1875), which awakened the spirit of nationalism and unity during India’s freedom struggle.
The celebration began with an invocation song, followed by a welcome address highlighting the historical significance of Vande Mataram. Principal Prof. S.R.R. Senthil Kumar delivered an inspiring speech on the song’s role in fostering national identity and patriotism. A multimedia presentation showcased its evolution from Anandamath to its recognition as the National Song of India.
Over 300 students from various departments participated and rendered a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, filling the auditorium with patriotic fervor. The program rekindled national pride and reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters. The event was successfully organized by Dr. M. Renuga, Ph.D., Dean of the First Year, and Mr. S. Jayachandran, Music Club Coordinator.
