On World Tourism Day 2025 (27.09.2025), the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Sona College of Technology, in association with the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, organized the Swachhata Hi Seva Program at Yercaud Adivaram and Shevaroy Hills.
The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Thiru R. Rajendran, was the chief guest of the program. He inaugurated the event and distributed Manjapai along with tree saplings to passengers and the public, creating awareness on environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Salem, Thiru. T. M. Selvaganapathy, and the Hon’ble Mayor of Salem, Thiru. A. Ramachandran, who extended their support and encouragement to the initiative.
A total of 61 NSS volunteers actively participated in the program. Activities included a seedball throwing drive at Yercaud Adivaram and a Swachhata Hi Seva cleaning campaign at Shevaroy Hills and Semmedu. During the event, the volunteers collected 30 kilograms of plastic waste and debris and took a pledge while spreading awareness among the public and tourists about cleanliness and environmental protection.
The program was successfully organized under the guidance of our NSS Programme Officers, Dr. P. Iyyanar and Mr. A. Naveenkumar, with the wholehearted involvement of the volunteers.
We express our sincere thanks to our management and principal for their continuous encouragement and support towards all our extension activities.
