Examinations and Assessments

Attendance Requirements
  • Ideally 100% attendance is expected from the candidates. However, a student needs to secure a minimum of 75% attendance to become eligible to appear for the final summative assessment examination.
  • A candidate with less than 75% attendance but more than 65% attendance can apply for condonation which may be approved by Controller of Examinations.
  • A candidate is having less than 65% attendance will not be permitted to appear for the continuous/ summative assessments. In such cases, the candidate should redo the course.
  • Each course comprises of theory and practical courses which are assessed continuously till the end of the term. At the end of every term, there will be a final summative examination.

Theory Courses

All the theory courses are conducted for 100 marks in the summative examination which is converted to 60 marks. Classification of continuous assessment examination is as follows,

There will be 3 continuous assessments for every course.

This examination will be conducted for 1 hour and 30 minutes with a weightage of 50 marks.

Note: Question paper pattern for the summative assessment will be desired by the coordinating department, controller of examination and approved by the Advisory Board, Governing Body of Sona College of Technology.

Passing Requirements:
  • A candidate needs to obtain 50 marks put together in continuous and summative assessment to get pass in the course.
  • If a candidate failed to complete his/her certificate courses in the duration of 9 months he /she may be allowed to a maximum of two attempts within a period of 18 months and advanced diploma programmes in the duration of 18 months he/she may be allowed to a maximum of three attempts within a period of 3 years.
