Prof. Dr. S. R. R. Senthilkumar, Principal, Sona College of Technology, inaugurated the தூய்மையான சேலை், தூய்மையான இந்தியா under the Swachh Bharat mission. Addressing the NSS volunteers, he emphasized the importance and the need for active participation in building a cleaner nation. Dr. M. Renuga, Dean (First Year), addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of cleanliness activities to the NSS volunteers.
Following the pledge, a total of 85 NSS volunteers, along with NSS Programme Officers Dr. P. Iyyanar, ASP/IT, and Mr. A. Naveenkumar, AP/IT, participated in the cleanliness drive. They picked discarded solid waste both inside the campus and in the surrounding areas, including the roads near the college’s main gate and the Junction Main Road.
The principal, Prof. Dr. S. R. R. Senthilkumar, and Dr. M. Renuga joined and motivated the student volunteers. During the activity at Junction Main Road, Dr. P. N. Gunanithi, Tamil Nadu State NSS Coordinator, and Dr. S. Sathish, NSS Coordinator, Periyar University, witnessed the cleaning drive. They praised the team’s dedication and encouraged the principal and the faculty.
The principal informed the State NSS Coordinator that Sona College of Technology would develop a mobile application to integrate colleges across Tamil Nadu, enabling them to post updates and reports of Swachh Bharat. He assured that it would be handed over to the Tamil Nadu State NSS within 60 days.
Welcoming this idea, Dr. P. N. Gunanithi assured the fullest support for launching the application in the presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister in the near future.
Finally, heartfelt thanks were expressed to the management of Sona College of Technology for their constant encouragement and support, which continue to strengthen all NSS initiatives.
