Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) is an initiative of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India to systematically rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculties.
ARIIA considers all major indicators which are commonly used globally to rank most innovative education institutions/ universities in the world.

Innovation Cell of Ministry of Education, Government India evaluated the higher education institutions across the country based on the above parameters and His Excellency, Hon’ble Vice president of India Shri.M.Venkiah Naidu has released the ARIIA-2020.
Sona is pleased to inform students and parents that Sona College of Technology has been placed in the Rank Band A (6th to 25th rank). Sona will continue to motivate the students in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship development and maintain the environment to emerge with achievements.
M.Roshini, student of final year Fashion Technology department presented a paper on the topic “Development of renewable energy technology in response to the climate change” in the Asia World Model United Nations international conference (AWMUN) III at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC) Nusa Dua, Bali, Republic of Indonesia held between November 13th – 16th, 2019.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
Asia World Model United Nations international conference (AWMUN) III is a simulation of an actual United Nations conference where participants are tasked with solving a global issue through research, drafting, lobbying and debate to pass a suitable resolution.
Among 1200 delegates participated in the international conference, M.Roshini is the fixed delegate from India representing the country “Poland” as a delegate of Poland in UNFCC council (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).
The 4 golden star certificate has been
awarded by MHRD- Innovation Cell to The Institution Innovation Council in Sona
College of Technology for its excellent performance towards innovations and
entrepreneurship development. This is another feather on the cap of Sona
College of Technology.
In addition to the 100% compliance on
the programme schedule of MHRD-IC, Sona
IIC had scheduled and conducted many other innovation and entrepreneurship
development programmes for the benefit
of the faculties & students of not only our college but also for other
colleges as well.
In the mission of generating job
provider – entrepreneurs, Sona –IIC also
contributed by devising the syllabus on
“IPR, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” and introduced an open
elective subject for the benefit of aspiring final year students for
entrepreneurship. This will enable the student to acquire knowledge and skill
on these areas and to become an entrepreneur.
It is glad to note that Sona-IIC has been awarded 4 golden star certificate for its better performance since November 2018 till May 2019.
In commemorate the birth of Sri Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, IEI Salem Local Centre announced various awards in different categories. On 15th September 2018, the centre celebrated its 51st Engineers day on the theme ” Digital Transformation: A New Industrial Revolution” and awarded the winners with a certificate and shield. Among the Engineering colleges in the Salem zone, Department of Civil Engineering, Sona College of Technology emerged as Best IEI Students Chapter for engineering college for the academic year 2017-2018 among the participated institutions. Dr R Malathy, Faculty Advisor, IEI Student Chapter along with R K Haree Prasaad, Chairman, IEI Students Chapter and few office bearers received the award during the valedictory ceremony from Er K Pandian, Chairman, IEI and SR Saravanan, Secretary, Salem Local Centre. Shri Valliappa, Chairman appreciated the chapter for bagging the award.
