Cisco Networking Local academy is a part of Sona Centre for Non-formal and Continuing Education, Sona College of Technology. The Academy trains the students for CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification, which is the industry's most respected certification for IT Professionals.
The Cisco Networking Academy Programme is a comprehensive e-learning programme, which provides students with the internet technology skills that are essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy programme delivers Web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on-labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry standard certifications.
The CCNA Certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) indicates a foundation in the apprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.
Download Course Content.Launched in October 1997 with 64 educational institutions in seven states - Arizona, California, Florida, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, and North Carolina - the Networking Academy has spread to more than 145 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Over 260,000 students have enrolled at more than 9800 Academies located in high schools, technical schools, colleges, universities, and community-based organizations. Cisco Systems trains the Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATCs), the CATCs train Regional Academies and the Regional Academies train the Local Academy Instructors who then educate students.
Cisco's partners from business, government and community organizations form an ecosystem to deliver the range of services and support needed to grow tomorrow's global workforce. Created to prepare students for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) degrees initially, the Academy curriculum has expanded with ecosystem-partner sponsored courses. Optional courses include: Fundamentals of Web design sponsored by Adobe Systems; IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software and IT Essentials: Network Operating Systems sponsored by Hewlett-Packard; Fundamentals of Voice and Data Cabling sponsored by Panduit; and Fundamentals of UNIX and Fundamentals of Java sponsored by Sun Microsystems.
The Internet enables learning for all students anytime, anywhere, regardless of location, socio-economic status, gender, or race. With the help of United Nations Development Programme, the United States Agency for International Development, and the International Telecommunication Union, Cisco has made the Academy programme available to students in the least developed countries to build the economy of their countries.
The Networking Academy programme continually raises the bar on e-learning and educational processes. Through community feedback and electronic assessment, the Academy programme adapts curriculum to improve outcomes and students' achievements. The Global Learning Network infrastructure designed for the Academy delivers a rich, interactive, and personalized curriculum to students all over the world. The Internet has the power to change the way people learn, work, and play, and the Cisco Networking Academy Programme is in the forefront of this transformation.
The Cisco Networking Academy Programme teaches valuable Internet technology skills, including networking, Web design, IT Essentials, Cabling, Java and UNIX to the students. The Academy Curriculum covers a broad range of topics from basics on how to build a network to how to build a website and more complex IT concepts such as applying advanced troubleshooting tools.

Recently, Our college has attained the autonomous status. It will help the college to redesign the curriculum of engineering courses according to the industry requirements. Our association with the IBM will provide the opportunity to include the IBM technology as part of our curriculum.
We have included few of the IBM technologies in the learning of the following courses
Course Name: Web Technology
IBM Technologies used: IBM Rational Application Developer and IBM DB2
Objective :To build web application using JSP/Servlets and client side script technologies
using the IBM technologies such as RAD and DB2.
Course Name: Java Programming
IBM Technologies used: IBM Rational Application Developer and IBM DB2
Objective :To build JAVA application using the IBM technologies such as RAD and DB2.
Course Name: Object Oriented Analysis and Design
IBM Technologies used: IBM Rational SEED product
Objective :
Object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) is an engineering approach that models a system as a group of interacting objects. There are a number of different notations for representing these models, such as the Unified Modeling Language (UML). This course helps the students in Mastering (OOAD/UML) 2.0 using IBM Rational SEED product to effectively use system requirements captured in use cases to drive the development of a robust design model.
