For the past 26 years, “Learning is a Celebration” has been one of the best practices of Sona College of Technology, embedding extension and outreach activities into the very fabric of the institution. Believing that youth are vital contributors to societal progress, the college continuously nurtures in them a sense of oneness with humanity and nature.

In line with the Ministry of Education’s call to observe Swachhata Pakhwada from 1st to 15th September 2025, the NSS Unit of Sona College of Technology organized a Signature Campaign and a Swachhta Selfie Booth on 17th September 2025 to promote cleanliness and collective responsibility for a green and sustainable campus.

A 12 x 8 ft Signature Campaign banner titled “Swachhata is Everyone’s Business” was placed near the University Block. The event was inaugurated with the first signature by Principal Prof. Dr. S. R. R. Senthilkumar, joined by NSS Programme Officers Dr. P. Iyyanar and Mr. A. Naveen Kumar. Following this, students, faculty, and staff enthusiastically signed the banner, pledging their commitment to the cause. With over 300 participants, the completed banner now stands as a proud symbol of the community’s collective resolve toward cleanliness, hygiene, and civic duty.

Adding a creative touch, the Swachhta Selfie Stand became a hub of excitement. Designed with posters carrying powerful cleanliness messages, it encouraged students to capture moments and share them on social media using the hashtags #GreenCampus, #CleanCampus, and #SwachhtaPakhwada. This interactive approach not only made the campaign enjoyable but also helped spread its message far beyond the campus.

Both activities successfully raised awareness about waste management, the reduction of single-use plastics, and personal hygiene, leaving behind a strong reminder that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility.
