The NSS units of Sona College of Technology organized an Awareness Seminar on “Tamil Sculpture: Mythology and Technique” on 06 January 2026 at Vattamuthampatty Village and MGR Nagar, Salem Block, as part of the fifth day of the NSS Special Camp. The session was handled by Thiru. T. Asokan Sthapathi, Sirpa Saathanai Kalaimani and Sirpa Mamani Awardee.

The seminar highlighted the rich heritage of Tamil sculpture, its mythological roots, and traditional sculpting techniques. The resource person explained the evolution of temple architecture, iconography, and the symbolism behind various forms, emphasizing the craftsmanship involved in stone and metal sculptures.

Using visual examples, the session helped participants understand how mythology is represented in art. Active interaction from villagers and students made the program engaging. The seminar enhanced cultural awareness and inspired participants to value and preserve Tamil heritage and traditional arts.
