The Sona Group celebrated the International Women’s Day 2022 on 26.03.2022 at 10:35 a.m in Sri Valliappa Auditorium with a prayer song and lighting of kuthuvilaku.

The Chief Guest for the function,Tmt.Saradhadevi Manickam, Deputy Mayor, Salem City Municipal Corporation, gave the Women’s Day address. She spoke on different aspects of Women Empowerment.

Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, Vice-chairman of the Sona Group, joined the celebration and addressed the gathering online. He talked on the importance of empowering women with the right to think, speak and act.

Ms.Divya Hariharan, Executive Director, Megawin Switchgear Private Limited, gave the Keynote Address. She shared her experience on how she emerged as an entrepreneur and how she succeeded in taking her father’s business forward independently. She also highlighted the importance of women’s health, hygiene and safety.

Dr.V.Karthikeyan, Principal, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Dr.S.R.R.Senthil Kumar, Principal, Sona College of Technology, and Dr.G.M.Kadhar Nawaz , Principal, Sona College of Arts and Science  felicitated the gathering.

Mr.C.Valliappa, Chaiman, Sona Group of Institutions, talked about the right kind of opportunities given to women by Sona.

Mr. Rahul Kadri, Principal Architect, IMK Architects, Mumbai, lauded the capabilities of women in multi tasking. He appreciated Sona for organising this function where women get the golden opportunity to hear about women achievements through women.

Ms.Uma Balajee,Director, Nesavu Textiles, India, Private Limited, Coimbatore and Alumna of Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, spoke about Women Entrepreneurship and motivated the students to become entrepreneur.

Ms.K.Jaya Chitra , IRS ( C & IT), Assistant Commissioner  (GST and Central Excise, Salem) and Alumna of Sona College of Technology from the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2009 Batch, shared her experience in attempting and clearing  UPSC  exams. She motivated the students to aim for higher posts in UPSC exams. She mentioned that every one must set goals and start working on it at an early age.

Ms.M.Afrin Sumaiya, HR – Executive – Cluster Resource Management, MyCaptain, Bengaluru, and Alumna of Sona College of Arts and Science spoke about the power of women and financial independence for women.

The students of Sona Group of Institutions performed  dances on the theme of Women Empowerment and Women Health.

The celebration came to an end with the Vote of Thanks at 1:45p.m
