The National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Sona College of Technology organized an Awareness Seminar on Social Entrepreneurship at Vattamuthampatty Village and MGR Nagar, Salem Block, during the afternoon session of the fourth day of the NSS Special Camp on 05 January 2026.
The seminar was handled by Dr. G. Suresh, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and EDC Coordinator, Sona College of Technology. He explained the concept of social entrepreneurship and highlighted how innovative ideas can be used to address social issues such as unemployment, poverty, environmental challenges, and community development. Real-life examples were shared to emphasize the balance between social responsibility and financial sustainability.
The session also stressed the importance of innovation, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with special focus on the role of youth in transforming local challenges into meaningful opportunities. NSS volunteers actively participated in the discussion, making the session engaging and impactful.
Overall, the seminar created awareness and motivation among students to pursue entrepreneurship with a social vision, reflecting the NSS motto “Not Me, But You.”
