About The School of Garment and Fashion Technology…
The School of Garment and Fashion Technology (SGFT) was established in the year 2001 with a 3-year BSc Apparel and Fashion Technology Programme. This was replaced by the 4-year BTech Fashion Technology Programme in 2005 due to increasing need in the garment industry of garment technologists.
The school is well and truly equipped with highly-qualified, industry-experienced and dedicated staff, a comprehensive, outcome based curriculum and fully-equipped laboratories to provide extensive hands-on training to the students. The SGFT is regarded as one of the top ranking in this region of the country. The B Tech FT programme is accredited by NBA. Individual attention and care is extended to students through effective faculty advising (Counselling) to help them both in the academic and personal issues. Student – centred teaching and learning process by practising a conducive and self-learning environment through Learning Resources Centre, Wi-Fi internet connectivity and so on. Special trainings are also provided to students in the areas of soft skills and personality development. Student motivational awards at the department level are given for their achievements in academic, co and extra-curricular activities.

- Three research projects won the second and third prizes in ‘TECHKNOW 2010 and 2014’, a national level project contest organized by AIMO-Chennai and Anna University Chennai, carrying a cash award of Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively
- Two student teams won the ‘Overall Championship Trophy’ at two national level student technical symposiums titled, FIBROFEST ‘13’ and ‘TRENZ ‘14’ both organised by Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore
