The NSS units of Sona College of Technology organized an Awareness Seminar on Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship at Vattamuthampatty Village and MGR Nagar on 07 January 2026, during the afternoon session of the sixth day of the NSS Special Camp. The session was conducted by Mr. M. Prem, Executive, CSRI, SCT, and Mr. S. Jayasurya, Project Coordinator, CSRI, SCT.
The seminar aimed to motivate women to recognize their potential, build self-confidence, and explore opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship. The resource persons highlighted the importance of economic independence as a key element of empowerment and explained how small enterprises can transform lives and families.
The speakers shared practical insights on identifying business ideas, utilizing local resources, and developing basic entrepreneurial skills. They introduced various government and institutional schemes that support women in starting small businesses, including financial assistance, training programmes, and mentorship opportunities. Real-life examples of successful women entrepreneurs inspired participants and made the session relatable and engaging.
The program encouraged participants to overcome fear, break social barriers, and take confident steps toward self-reliance. The interactive discussion allowed women to clarify doubts regarding business start-up procedures, funding, and marketing.
The seminar concluded with a strong message that empowered women can become change-makers in their families and communities. The session successfully instilled confidence, created awareness about entrepreneurship, and inspired participants to pursue economic independence and personal growth.
