The National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Sona College of Technology organized Swachh Action Day, a special one-day public place cleaning drive, on 06 January 2026, as part of the fifth day of the NSS Special Camp. The drive was conducted at Vattamuthampatty Samuthayakoodam, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Park, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College bus stops, and near temples in Vattamuthampatty and MGR Nagar.
The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and civic responsibility. NSS volunteers actively cleaned public spaces by removing plastic waste, sweeping surroundings, and ensuring proper waste disposal. Awareness was also created among the public on maintaining hygiene and reducing plastic usage.
The programme received positive support from the local community and contributed to improving the cleanliness of public places. The successful conduct of the drive strengthened institution–community relations and reflected the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You.”
