National Science Day 2026 was celebrated on February 28, 2026, by the Department of Science at Sona College of Technology in the august presence of our respected Principal Prof. Dr. S.R.R. Senthilkumar and the Chief guest from ISRO, Mr. A. Vaidhyanathan, Scientist/ENG-SG, Satish Dawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. Dr. C. Shanthi, HOD/Science welcomed the gathering and informed about the purpose of celebrating National Science Day on 28th February every year. Dr. S. Radjarejesri, Professor of Chemistry highlighted the significance of National Science Day Celebration.
The Principal Dr. S.R.R. Senthilkumar illustrated the proud achievements and contributions of SONASPEED towards the various launching programs of ISRO. He highlighted the achievements of final year students in terms of placement and research contributions. He appreciated the Science faculty members for their academic, research and Institutional level contributions for the growth of Sona. He encouraged the first-year students to take part in both academic, extracurricular activities and research for their career growth. He appreciated the office bearers of science club for their active participation in the conduct of various events throughout the year. Dr. V. Balasubramanian introduced the chief guest. Mr. A. Vaidhyanathan presented his talk about the achievements of ISRO from the inception. Since the theme of Science Day for this year – Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat, he highlighted the recent achievements of Women scientists from Tamil Nadu who were actively involved in Chandrayaan mission. He interacted with the first-year students then and there. He appreciated the contributions of SONASPEED team for their exceptional service to ISRO. DR. A.P. Uthirakumar, Dr. T. Maruthavanan and Dr. P. Kavitha announced the prize winners of Science Quiz, JAM, Paper presentation, Picture description, Science Hackathon, Sirpi, Multimedia presentation competitions conducted in this year. Finally, Dr. M. Balamurugan, Science Club Coordinator proposed vote of thanks.
