The Guest lecture on “Prestressed concrete structures” was conducted on 10.10.2022 from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. online to final year students. The program began with an inaugural address by Dr. R. Malathy, HoD/Civil, and a chief guest introduction. The expert of guest lecturer Mr. M. Tamilselvan, Senior Bridge Engineer, MMSB Consultant, Malaysia started the session with a basic introduction to prestressed concrete structures. This lecture was planned with the aim to impart the design methodologies of prestressed concrete techniques, anchorage, and end block zone in prestressed concrete structures. During the lecture, the expert discussed the design methodologies of end block and anchorage and shared photos and videos of practical challenges encountered in the design of the same. Also, the expert discussed the latest technologies used in industries related to prestressing techniques for various structural members. The expert also discussed the problems related to the anchorage and end block zone with suitable site examples. The lecture was followed by a questionnaire session with the students. Finally, the guest lecture ended with a vote of thanks.
