On behalf of the Salem City Police, a campaign on the theme, “Drug free Tamilnadu” was organized at Sri Valliappa Auditorium.

Tmt.Vijayakumari, Commissioner of Police, presided over the programme in which Mr. Gowtham Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), P.Menaka, District Revenue Officer, Shri.C.Valliappa, Chairman, Sona Institutions, Dr.V. Karthikeyan, Principal, Thiagarajar, Polytechnic College, Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar, Principal, Sona College of Technology, Dr.G.M.Kadhar Nawaz, Principal, Sona College of Arts and Science, and about 1300 students took part.

All those who took part in the awareness campaign took the pledge from the City Commissioner of Police. Awareness was imparted among students to commit to the pledge and download the certificate from the website http://enforcementbureautn.org/pledge.

Students who took part in the competitions such as elocution in connection with the theme were given prizes and certificates by the Commissioner of Police. Speaking to the students, the Commissioner called upon the students to support the initiative of making Tamilnadu a drug-free state. Drug use should be completely eradicated from the state said the Commissioner and distributed awareness literature about the harms of drug use to students.

The students performed a skit to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction.
