At the Mechanical Department of Sona, the curriculum has been formulated to equip the generation -Y with current technologies to meet the forthcoming challenges in the Manufacturing and automobile sectors. It offers a balanced programme with a theoretical background for examining current trends and emerging technologies like thermal based analysis of automobiles and other latest technologies in the manufacturing field.
The mechanical department provides the avenue for hands-on practical sessions to experiment the new technologies in automobile field by making the students test the working prototypes live in the international racing circuits across India.
The department has an active SAE-collegiate club with 7 staff members and 80 student members from all the years who take part in cutting edge competitions
- SAE-SUPRA (A Student Formula Race Car Track Competition)
- SAE-BAJA (An Off-Road Design And Track Level Competition)
- SAENIS-EFFICCYCLE (A Hybrid Three Wheeler Car Race) and
- SAE-AERO Modeling (An International Aero Design Competition).
The department has always secured the podium finish in all the above events conducted by “Society of Automotive Engineers” since its inception.
The department has collaboration with more than 23 companies for project internships, sabbatical training, in-plant training, industrial visits, and industrial electives as part of the curriculum, research projects and many more.
The department has successfully achieved 100% placements and our alumni hold vital positions in various manufacturing companies like General Motors, RANE valves, Titan, TVS, Vedanta group, Roots India Ltd, TaeguTec, Marico, Valeo Pvt Ltd and JSW steels. etc.
The department is gearing up to introduce the latest manufacturing technologies both in hardware ordered courses and software based simulation experiments.
With all the above mentioned credentials the department assures placement to all the eligible students in reputed Mechanical industries
