Listening, reading, writing and speaking are said to be the skills that we are in need to develop for perfect communication and to develop our personality and gaining confidence. The English club is all about developing ourselves in the way of good communication. This is a platform not only for the students who are good in English but also to those who fear of speaking out in public which is an essential skill in this current era.

Talking about LEEF – Literary Events for Enhancing Freshers, it helps all the first year students to mingle with seniors and it gives an opportunity to communicate with other department students and to know more about their activities in college. On the whole, LEEF’21  was a delight for everyone. Not only 1st years who took part but eventually to everyone.

Even at times of this pandemic TEC did not fail to heave each other. As of prelims, both writing and speaking events were conducted for 5 days in virtual mode.

EVENTS CONDUCTED:

DATE WRITING EVENTS              SPEAKING EVENTS

Writing events

In Reverse magic, students were given a topic and they were asked to write their content in a reverse way. Thesaurus, Journal James, logophile and Adage Voice were the other interesting events which encouraged students to showcase their talent. All of their written materials were collected and were shortlisted based on their writing skills.

Speaking events

PIC – O – Connect – The pictures were displayed in the desktop to students via MS Team meeting and the participants were given two minutes to prepare post which they had to connect those words and talk about it for few minutes. Talk Master, G.O.A.T Conference, Convo War and Humantronicz were the other speaking events conducted during the same week. Best of all speakers were selected for the semi – finals.

For each events, there were 5 slots with respective judgement panel. On that basis, selected participants were qualified to the semi finals. Also TEC tried its best to not let the fun down. We also conducted possible fun events online.

When we were back to college campus after one long year of virtual mode classes, semifinals was conducted in college on 15th of February 2021 at APJ hall. Events like  TABLE  JAM, BIG FIGHT were conducted. Table Jam is a speaking event where participants will be seated up and are asked to speak on the given topics and they can interrupt if they find any grammatical, lexical or factual errors while the other participant is speaking. Big fight is a debate between two teams on the given topics. The judgements were made with the same criteria by the panel of judges and the selected participants were qualified for finals.

Before valedictory function, everyone was super excited for the big day. We separated the responsibilities into multiple groups such as Compering, Decoration works, Certificate preparation and the Media Team, who contributed to the best of their abilities in coming up with unique and creative posters and videos.

Our  valedictory function was held on 19th February 2021 at Sri Valliappa auditorium. It was a great day indeed with the presence of Dr. Renuka madam, Head of Department of Humanities and Language and our club coordinator Saratha Lakshmi madam along with many other English department faculties. Students of various departments and our dear alumni were invited to attend LEEF ’21 . The members of English Club made sure to properly organize the entire event.

On this day, events like Table Jam, Big Fight Finals, Elocution, Coffee With TEC, ADZAP, Group  Discussion for 3rd years, Fun Events(CONNECTIONS) were conducted. Finally, the best participants of each events were awarded. For a good change, the winners were given certificates along with saplings.
