On 24.07.2017 Institute of Engineers India (IEI) Students Chapter of Civil Engineering Division was held its inauguration ceremony at sona college of technology (SCT) ,salem . Dr.Santhosh Babu,IAS was invited as the chief guest of the day .The function started with the welcome address by Dr.R.Malathy,HOD of civil engineering,SCT,followed by lamp lighting ceremony ,Presidential address by Dr.M.Usha Principal,SCT,Felicitation address by Dr.V.Jayaprakash,Director,SCT and Er.K.Pandian,chairman of IEI ,salem . Then students chairman of IEI ,SCT Mr.R.K.HareePrasaad introduced his team of office bearers. After which Ms.N.Savitha,ast.prof,civil engineering introduced the chief guest to the gathering.Then chief guest Dr.Santhosh Babu addressed the gathering with his eminent speech on the topic “Innovation and Leadership” and motivated them to pursue their dream with passion and made them realise the role of engineers in the society,he also asked the students to make proper use of social networks so that it eventually turns out to be professional media that enhances networking among students and professionals .He quotedon patriotism that “Patriotism is not fighting for people or country its about how you love and serve your nation”.He said that the people must be good givers to the society avoiding on only being takers from the society. On the whole his speech had motivated the students to achieve their goals along with an eagerness to serve the country and its people
