MARINA REPUBLIC DAY CAMP:
2nd-year NCC cadet Rohinth K R from Sona College of Technology, Salem, was selected by Unit 11 (TN) SIG COY NCC, Kovai Group, to attend the Marine Republic Day Camp in Chennai. Held from January 5th to January 12th, 2023, at Adhiparasakthi Engineering College, Melmaravathur, the camp provided rigorous training in drill and weapon handling under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Following the training sessions, a selection process was conducted to choose the main contingent NCC SD boys to march on Republic Day, and Rohinth was among the cadets selected from Sona College. Additionally, daily marching practice sessions, covering a minimum of 7 kilometers with weapons, were conducted to enhance stamina for the Marina Republic Day parade.
Beyond military training, the camp also featured cultural events, including a group song competition, in which Rohinth participated and secured the 1st prize medal. The camp concluded with a closing ceremony featuring a speech by the commanding officer, COL JOBEE PHILIP.
Overall, the Marine Republic Day Camp presented an invaluable opportunity for Rohinth to acquire new skills, strengthen existing ones, and forge meaningful connections with cadets from various groups, including Madurai, Madras A, Madras B, and Trichy.
