04.07.2023 is etched in the history of Sona as a day to remember and celebrate!
Mr. Taka Masayuki, Consul-General, Consulate General of Japan, and Ms. Mami Teraoka, Researcher/Adviser Culture and Information, Consulate General of Japan in Chennai visited Sona to participate in the Indo-Japan Cultural Exchange programme! Addresses by the Guests of Honour, Vice-chairman, Mr. Chocko Valliappa and Principal, Sona College of Technology, Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar, and Dr.V.Karthikeyan, Principal, TPT, and Dr.G.M.Kadhar Nawaz Principal, Sona College of Arts and Science, focused on the importance of learning Japanese to get global placements. Mr. Taka Masayuki and Ms. Mami Teraoka were very much impressed to know that nearly 1500 students are learning the Japanese Language in a single campus in South India and they expressed their appreciations for the students’ interest in learning the language.
Sona College of Technology is the only institution in South India where the Japanese language is taught to more than1500 students, ranging from primary class children to Engineering students. Japanese traditional culture is also spread among Sona students.
The cultural exchange programme became a jubilant celebration as students of Sona and kids of Sona Valliappa Public School presented the traditional Japanese dances!
