1271 graduates, 39 university ranks , 92 percent placed: 19th Graduation Day at Sona marks another milestone.
In its historic mission to create globally competent engineers and technologists, Sona College of Technology, Salem, set yet another milestone on its 19th Graduation Day for 2019 batch students, held virtually on January 17, 2021.
All the 1271 Graduates who received their degrees had passed with 1st class, 420 passed with distinction and 92 per cent were placed.
College Chairman, Mr. C.Valliappa, declared the ceremony open and presided over the function.
Dr. V.I.Lakshmanan, internationally renowned teacher, scientist and innovator, Adjunct Professor, University of Toronto, who delivered the Graduation Day Address, called on the students to continually upgrade their knowledge and skills to remain employed in a competitive, rapidly changing technological environment.
In his address, the Chairman told students that team work and communication skills will be crucial to shine in their career. “Shun the 9.00 am to 5.00 p.m culture”, he said. Vice Chairman, Mr. Chocko Valliappa, said every 1.2 seconds a job is created in India and he appealed to the students to grab the opportunities. Vice Chairman, Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, emphasized the need to enjoy work like cricketer Virender Sehwag. He urged students to shun the culture of learning by rote and negative work ethics but create value for oneself to beat competition.
Principal, Dr.S.R.R Senthil Kumar,welcomed the students and presented the Graduation report.
Guests of Honour, Mr.J.P Ambrose, General Manager (HR), JSW Steel Limited, Mr.Murali Shankarnarayan, Director Marketing and Chief Fun Officer, Capgemini India, Dr.Amarnath C.B, Head-BIM Strategy, L&T Construction, President of National Society – India BIM Association, Mr. Rathan Rao Pathur, Bangalore, SHYCOCAN, DIONNA, Ms.Dharmalashri D.IAS, Assistant Collector, Palakkad, distributed the degree certificates to all the graduates.
