Celebrating Excellence: Highlights from the 27th Annual Day at Sona College of Technology

The 27th Annual Day Celebration at Sona College of Technology took place on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, marking a significant milestone in our academic journey. It served as a magnificent tribute to the outstanding achievements of our students, staff and faculty members, encapsulating the essence of our educational philosophy.

At Sona, we recognize life empowerment through education, nurturing not just knowledgeable individuals but also instilling values, skills, and integrity. This annual event symbolized the culmination of a year filled with academic rigor and enriching experiences.

The celebration was graced by our esteemed Chairman, Shri C. Valliappa, who emphasized the importance of a humanitarian mindset, defining it as a hallmark of every Sona student. He urged students to acknowledge the invaluable support of their parents and teachers in their journey towards success.

Vice Chairman, Mr. Chocko Valliappa, highlighted Sona’s remarkable achievements, stating that its potential has the capacity to reach beyond the skies, even to Mars. He encouraged students to leverage Sona’s robust research and development ecosystem, pointing out the government’s keen interest in student-led innovation.

Vice Chairman, Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, delivered an impassioned address, emphasizing the institution’s ethos of passion over fashion, urging students to be proactive performers and innovators. He recounted Sona’s resilience during challenging times, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and foresight.

Setting the stage for an eventful day was our Principal, Prof.Dr. S.R.R Senthilkumar’s video presentation on Sona College’s achievements and his 271-page report on achievements during the year 2023-24.

The event welcomed the honourable Chief Guest Mrs. Vanitha Datla, Vice Chairman of ELICO Ltd. who urged students to harness their creative potential to overcome life’s obstacles, envisioning them as future leaders who have the capacity to chisel the nation as a developed one. She emphasized the importance of empowering women to fulfil their potential, contributing to a more inclusive society.

Mrs. Dharmala Shri D, IAS, our esteemed alumna of Fashion Technology(2012 Batch), shared her inspirational journey from an enthusiastic engineering student at Sona College to a successful civil servant. She emphasized the significance of self-reflection and determination in carving one’s path, aiding students who aspire for civil service or competitive exams.

The ceremony also featured awards honouring the best outgoing students, academic toppers, and appreciation recipients, followed by cultural performances by talented students that lent colour and gaiety to the occasion.

Earlier on, Dr. Akilandeswari, Dean Academics and HoD of the Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and DataScience Department, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, and Dr. S Padma, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the celebration on a grateful note.
