International Conference

Sona College and Muscat College,Oman jointly organise International Conference on 6th to 7th March,2024

Sona College of Technology and Muscat_College collaborated to host an International Conference on March 6th and 7th, 2024. The event, focusing on Green Computing in Communication and Technology, Sustainable Development in Management, and English Language studies, attracted participants from over 15 countries. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Sri Valliappa Auditorium, with the esteemed presence of Mr. Chocko Valliappa and Mr. Thyagu Valliappa , Vice Chairmen of Sona Institutions , Dr.Senthil Kumar SRR , Principal of Sona College of Technology, Dr. Dr Khalfan Al-Masruri, Associate Professor , Dean of Muscat College, Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Chandrasekar S , Dean of R&D at Sona College of Technology, and a notable number of attendees contributing to the exchange of ideas and knowledge across diverse academic disciplines.

Dr. Stephen ARO-GORDON from Muscat College highlighted climate finance , green climate goals, and AI technologies in a speech on sustainable development. Dr. Khalfan Abdullah joined us online and emphasized communication technologies and eco-friendly AI. Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman of Sona Institutions, discussed environment-friendly technologies, including AI and ChatGPT, in the context of Sona FM 107.8 and HireMee . Dr. Ferddie Quiroz Canlas, PhD, AFHEA,PCpE , an assistant professor at Muscat College, delved into Industry 5.0 and green computing , touching on datasecurity, big data, and IoT. Dr. Danavel, a professor at IIT Madras, emphasized training as a developmental tool, underscoring the role of certificates in recognition. He highlighted defect and cascading models while advocating collaboration as a crucial developmental approach.

Dr. Sujata Khandai , Director of Amity College of Commerce, UP, India, addressed the alarming issue of food wastage and the need for sustainable practices to support Earth's growing population. Mr. Thyagu Valliappa , Vice Chairman of Sona Institutions, stressed the importance of time management , sustainable paper usage, and giving back to mother earth.

In keynote session, Dr. Ivan Zupic , a lecturer in entrepreneurship from the University of London, discussed the onset of AI, AI hype cycle, outlining its capabilities and limitations. Dr. Mathew Phillips, Assistant Dean of Muscat College, explored the current sustainability landscape, scrutinizing the challenges of plastic recycling and digital public infrastructure.
