BLOOD DONOR'S CLUB

Setting the standards, nowadays, is quite common for Sona, not only in the academics, but also in various other extra curricular activities catering to the improvement in the area of humanity, social service, awareness and the key critical elements of the society.

Definitely, service oriented, with no references, no preferences, has been the ultimate objective of Sona's blood club. It is no wonder that Sona topped the list of Anna University of Technology in the academic year 2003-2004 by donating 86 units. Ever since this achievement, our NSS and YRC(Youth Red Cross) have been appointed as the Zonal representatives for Salem District.

Life is the most precious and it is an irretrievable one. Our students have always risen to the occasion and have rendered timely help as in the following emergency cases :

• Four students rushed to Abhaya Hospitals, Bangalore to save the life of Mrs.Shanthi, who suffered from a gastro problem.
• Prof.Gopalan of Sowdeswari college, was given two units of blood for an open heart surgery at Vijaya Hospitals, Chennai.
• Charity begins at home; justifying this, two staff members and three students donated five units of blood to a second year student of our Sona family.
• Two of our students saved the lives of two new-born babies by donating blood.

In our college, around 286 units of blood donated by our donors in an emergency cases in various hospitals [02.07.09 – Till date].
