ANNAPOORANI. G - MACHINE LEARNING TO PREDICT EARTHQUAKE AFTERSHOCKS

Scientists from Harvard have teamed up with tech giant google for using machine learning to predict where earthquake aftershocks may occur, a move that will help minimize the impact of natural disaster.

Earthquake typically occur in sequences an initial main shock and a set of aftershocks. while these aftershock are typically smaller in magnitude, they may significantly hamper recovery efforts.

Although the timing and size of aftershocks has been explained by empirical laws forecasting the locations of these events have proven to be more challenging.

Phoebe Devris postdoctoral fellow at Harvard said in a blog spot they are teaming up with machine experts to see if they can explain where aftershocks may occur.

She said that the teams started with database of more than 118 major earthquake affected areas. A neural net was then used to analyse relationships between static stress changes caused by the mainshocks and aftershocks.

Dev ries said the process also helped in identifying physical quantities responsible fo earthquake generation.

ANJANA. V - LIFI

Li-Fi is Light fidelity. It is about transmitting data through wireless communication. The process of Li-Fi is same as Wi-Fi ,but it differ in some ways. This term was first coined by the Prof .Mr .Harald Haas in 1990's. It is a bidirectional transmission through Illumination process.Variation of intensity is faster than human eye can follow.Radio Spectrum is congested but the demand for wireless data doubles each year .

Li-Fi is 100 times faster than Wi-Fi. The of the process will be faster then human eye can follow.The internet will be streamed to the device from the bulb.

So, every bulb serves as a hotspot for transmitting wireless data.The applications of Li-Fi includes in Hospitals,airlines,oceanbeds, street lamps etc.It can also be used in traffic lights,since it has LED lamps and cars have also LED lamps and both can be communicated with each other and accidents can be avoided in main areas.The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further. If this technology can be put into practical use , every bulb can be used something like a Wi-Fi hotspots to transmit wireless data. This process is not yet implemented yet, it is still in process.

Digital centralisation maybe defined as different devices coming together or the ability to coordinate different devices to perform a particular task. When devices are centralised it creates a smarter and better living environment. It's supplement in business and IT relatedsectors has created wonders. One of the most used centralisation techniques is data centralisation.

WHAT IS DATA CENTRALISATION ?

Centralisation allows all the company data to be stored in a remote area or branch office(ROBO). Data centralisation is a process where a company's data is collected and stored in a single mainframe.

BENEFITS OF DATA CENTRALISATION:

When the data or information is centralised, searching and accessing of information becomes more easy.

SIMPLIFIED IT INFRASTRUCTURE:

Complexity of IT infrastructure increases cost and data security demand is also more as it is difficult to provide information security to discrete data sets. When the data is centralised systems are simplified and streamlined.

INCREASING THE ACCURACY OF INFORMATION:

In complex IT systems the files are located on local servers which makes it inaccessible to a person who is trying to access the data from another local server. If the data is centralised on a single mainframe everyone is guaranteed to access the appropriate data file information.

DISADVANTAGE OF DATA CENTRALISATION:

Information security is one of major disadvantage of data centralisation. Since all the data are centralised it becomes a easy target for intruders. This can be avoided by limiting the access to key controlling unit. This will prevent avoid any malware, spyware or ransomware attack.

Google panda is a series of on going algorithm updates and data refreshes for the Google Search Engine that the company rolls out to help refine its search algorithm to improve the value of search query results for users.

GOOGLE PANDA UPDATE :

Panda was first introduced on February 23, 2011.

On February 24 ,Google published a blog post update .They indicated that they brings a pretty big improvement in Algorithms to our ranking . Panda was named after Google Staffer NAVNEET PANDA .

Actually it is referred as FARMER Update by Danny Sullivan , Search Engine Land Founder . Later Google revealed that internally it had been referred as Panda , the name of the engineer who gave an idea about Primary Algorithm Breakthrough .

This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites that is sites which are low-value add for users or sites which are not useful . At the same time , it will also provide better rankings for websites which are very useful with original content .

The Panda updates are closely followed by the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Industry as well as companies and web developers across the world .Google offers regular advisory updates on its blog to help provide direction to SEO companies , web developers and content providers for improving the content and design of their websites and pages to avoid being lowered in the search engine results.

The Panda update has affected sites like Mahalo , Ezinearticles and a lot of other websites. The articleEzine was affected because they do look over and edit their articles. Then they said that they will be more strict with the articles they are accepting .

Now , Panda 4.1 is rolling out .This is 28th update of Google Panda .It is updated with a filter designed to penalize thin content from ranking level has been released.

Nowadays banks and financial organizations are facing many problems in data management and so on as customer volume increases. Problems such as reduced interest rates, tighter regulations, unstable financial markets, lower performing assets etc. Big data analyse is used to overcome this kind of problems. Existing data analytics practice have reduced work efficiency as it has simplified the monitoring process of banks and financial organizations. It doesn't give a proper evaluation of vast amount of client data such as personal and security information. But big data analyse provides clear evaluation and is good in monitoring process, so banks can use this big data analyse to continuously monitor the client's current status this in turn helps to increase the profit and performance. It also provide high insight as it can analyse huge volume of data and various types of data more from various sources than ever before. There are three areas where big data analyse satisfies the banks and other organizations to the fullest they are operation optimization, employee engagement and customer satisfaction. Customer is get satisfied with banks by big data and analysis as it has deeper insight as it digs deeper into the customer's information and behaviour. It enables segment of one marketing. Presently it is very important to focus on the customer's need as customers have more expectation towards the bank as they purely depend on it for various purposes in real time. And big data analyse is also used to give faster insight by analysing vast amount of data in high speed and information are passed quickly. Examples, for the impact of big data and analysis in every one's life, normally a person will have account in bank that too is spilt up into current account and savings account if a person uses his bank or ATM to transfer amount or to use it for other purposes so that the messages regarding that should be conveyed to the customers, in a bank more people would have their account so the messages for each and every people should accurate and should be delivered faster as possible if the bank uses the post service to transfer these information it would take more time and it leads to the wastage of papers, 1000 trees should be cut down to make up 1 ton of paper to overcome these discomforts we can use the e-communication methods but it also have some defects such as it require larger area to store as much data and if we store as many data in a data storage device it causes several problems so that we are using big data analyse to overcome this kind of problems and to transfer and collect various information as it is more efficient than all others. Another example for real time usage of big date is when a person need to build a house, first he analysis the budget, he will find some reference in the social media using the information in social media the bank can know the status of the customer and the bank can be offer the loan these things are possible only with the big data and analysis. Nowadays our income and expenditure as associated with our banks so that big data analyse can be used to alert us while we are purchasing, that is if we purchase more than the appropriate limit our bank can alter us via our mobile using big data.

In such a way big data analyse involves in everyone's and everyday life. Using big data and analysis we can improve the forecast accuracy and because of big data analyse predicative analysis would be easier (that is, we can analyse the past to easily forecast the future). As we said before big data analyse is used in analysing the spending pattern with more accuracy, now what is need to see the spending pattern, using spending pattern we can find the valuable customers, that is the customer how invest more or the person who spend more money, using this data we can provide financial offers that can help you feel valued as your customer. With big data analyse one can see the different spending patterns differentiated according to demographics, average income etc. Big data analyse is also used to prevent the customers from high-risk spending patterns and safeguard them from lot of pain. It also helps the customers by giving financial suggestions. Bank should always aware for mitigating the fraudulent activities that may occur and if it occur bank should prevent it, this is the biggest problem that banks facing, so that big data is the only solution for this kind of problems. That way the big data plays a vital role in banking and finance.

KARTHICK. R - HOW PRACTICE MAKES PEOPLE PERFECT

There is a popular saying in English called "Practice starts at the candle and ends in grave". Likewise, in order to succeed in life in any particular field, one need to practice regularly with full commitment and planned strategies. Getting succeeded in life is not just an easy phenomenon. It needs knowledge, skill and most importantly the regular practice. There is no power which can make an individual into M.S Dhoni or Virat Kohli overnight merely through any inborn skill or by having some general knowledge about cricket. That individual has to go to the cricket field every day and need to practice cricket for hours under the guidance of a good coach to become master in the sport. Likewise, one cannot reach to the target without committed practice.

Every individual should get rid of every obstacle on their path to success and should practice very hard. Because hard practice helps oneself to reach his or her goal. You need to take care of the very little mistakes to bring perfection in the work you are doing. If we look at any successful people, we can merely say that he/she was a lucky person. But they put on lots of efforts, do regular practice and involved themselves with full commitment in their work, which make them to reach the success. There is no alternate to the regular practice which can make one perfect. Without practice you can give only an average performance but not perfect performance.

Practice until you achieve your aim in your life, Practice until you become a master in your work, because practice is the only quantity which successful people possess and unsuccessful people lack. Thus Practice makes people perfect.

MADHUMITHA. M- PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD

I like to begin my talk with the quote,

A blow with a word strikes deeper than a blow with a sword. yeah, As it says I am here to talk on the topic Pen is mightier than sword. This proverb celebrates the power of pen, The ever true fact that the power and significance of the pen is mightier than sword, as the sword causes only a short lived whereas the pen causes the implication for a longer duration and permanently. The pen indicates renaissance and a tool to fight for justice.

The pen has brought many changes in the world. As Edward Bulwer Lytton says beneath the rule of men is entirely great, the pen is mightier than the sword. Words can build or cut the cords. Damage can be caused by both but the impact of words are the worst. Many great hero of pen like Milton, Shakespeare, Tagore have influence the world through their writings.

I hereby conclude that pen isn't mightier than sword, pens do not win battles and swords don't write poetry.

Mighty is in the hand that knows when to pick the pen and when to pick the sword. What a sharp edge of sword can achieve; can easily be achieved with the help of a tiny tip of a pen.

SRINITHI. K- THE HAPPIER YOU

First, we should do things that make us happy. We should listen our heart. Follow our dreams and passion in a way that makes everyone proud. We should not restrict things that we love to do. Always have positive attitude. We should not go down due to failures. Try to gain experiences out of failures.

Caring about others is the basis of happiness. Helping people not only makes them better but also gives you internal joy. The more you care towards people around you, the more you create a happy surrounding.

Relationships play a vital role in one's happiness. Close relations like family and friends provide love and support during all circumstances. They make our life worthy. They realise you, stand with you even if you are totally lost.

Having a wider view on life makes you feel enlightened. We should learn to appreciate people and every good things that happens around us. Enjoy each and every moment because we live our life only once. Time passed cannot be retrieved. So, live every moment to the fullest. Don't worry for your past and future. Present is a precious gift given in your hands. So, use it to the core.

Always fell satisfied with what we have. You will never be happy if you constantly look for what others have. So, we should have self-satisfaction. Success is a measure decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure that is decided by you.

Always keep in mind no one is perfect. There will be things that go wrong at times. So, never get frustrated and loss your control. No matter what goes wrong and no matter how rough things become have hope that never let you down. You have to decide how to react to situations.

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting what we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have

No one can become others. So be you and enjoy every moment.

LAVANYA. D - MUSIC THERAPY

Most of us listen to music when we are upset or in stress. Because the fact is Music acts as a pain reliever. Music has the power to reduce stress. The usage of music for reducing stress and improving health is called music therapy. Music therapy is a creative arts therapy, consisting of a process in which a music therapist uses music and of its facts such as emotional, mental, social and spiritual to help clients improve their physical and mental health.

In some instances, the clients need are addressed directly through music; in others they are addressed through the relationships that develop between the client and therapist. Music therapists may encourage clients to sing, play instrument, create songs, or do other musical activities. Music therapy comes in two different forms: active and receptive.

Music has been found to be an effective tool for music therapists through extensive research. It is beneficial for any individual, both physically and mentally, through improved heart rate, reduced anxiety, stimulation of the brain, and improved learning. Music therapists use their patients in many areas, ranging from stress relief before and after surgeries to Neuropathology such as Alzheimer's diseases.

Listening to music may improve heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure in those with coronary heart diseases. Music has been useful in the recovery of motor skills. Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia are among the disorders most commonly treated with music therapy. It is also used in some medical hospitals, Cancer centre's alcohol and drug recovery programs and correctional facilities.

This proves that music plays an important role in maintaining our health so let us also make use of Music to lead a healthy life.

KESHORE. M - CORRUPTION

Corruption, the most heard word now adays. We may all think how it is done and how the process is carried out. For example if you have a bike and you don't have a key but you want to start the bike you can't ,when you have a key you may start it. Like that the key for the corruption is money. We people know the proverb MONEY MAKES MANY THING, of course it does many thing out of that it makes one thing that is what corruption is . Whatever that we see is filled with corruption. Now a days it splatters like a disease. It starts from the signature of small officer to big official. For example: We take education if a school or a college needs a teacher or lecture through interview process they make take them or by some other method they may take them. But instead through family connection they are taking them and they don't check whether they have proper qualification or not. so these are the small type of corruption that happens in education. Coming to the politics our prime minister narendra modi he has done many good thing to us like Benami transaction amendment act, removal of black money,Linking aadhar card to all accounts. But in some cases he breaks his silence like vyapam scam,chikki scam,heralad case. The reason behind this is politics and corruption. Now a petition was passed by the government regarding Vijay mallaya case that government accepted in giving ostentatious facilities in prison. It doesn't make sense and it doesn't required for a business man like him. So from this we all know that government employee itself helping others to overcome the problem. Corruption first starts from the government employee. You all know the meaning of POLE STAR where the sailors used to see that and navigate in write path. so what is my point is that government employee should be like a pole star ,so that people may see them and navigate in a correct path. But government itself not in a steady manner how people may?. So Blaming on private concern doesn't make any change.

So we the youngster seeing this problem in day to day life. we should come out and sort out these problems.

SAJETHA. S - IV YEAR - A TALK ABOUT NOTHING

MY Talk is about nothing. So I admit most of you probably gonna look at me and say why she is talking about nothing but what would possibly be interesting about nothing and you're probably questioning my choice of topics here to speak as well.

I am going to ask you to try something, just think about nothing, no sound, no light, just nothing. It's difficult almost impossible. I was sitting and I was trying to think about nothing. I spent a long time on this and I was like how do I explain this and that's kind of what led me to do this.

I have a challenge for you and the challenge is about focus. This is the FedEx logo How many of you noticed that there is an arrow in-between the E and X for FedEx logo. It adds a subliminal message to the logo, it makes you think that FedEx is going to deliver my package further, its indicating progress, indicating movement.

Here nothingness carries some meaning. Everything exists of what you look on it. You make the subconscious decision to choose what is something and what is nothing and they make this larger everything.

SOUNDARYA. R - IV YEAR - VIEWS ON YOUNGSTERS

A very good afternoon to one and all present here. I am R.Soundarya currently doing my bachelor degree in Information Technology. One week back during a Train journey some thoughts were roaming in my mind and today I would like to share those thoughts with you.

Let me start with an example of a girl's situation who is very flexible with the rules in the society and very bold to mingle with the society and treat all the youngsters equal irrespective of genders. But what does the society do in return. They are ready to ill-treat that girl and create rumors of her behavior behind her back. On other side let us consider an example of a girl who is very innocent and not ready to mingle with the society and she is very calm and silent doing her work. Even now the society is ready to make use of her innocence. So, whatever we tend to do the only aim of the society is to ill-treat us then why should we put their words into our ears and make our self, disappointed. Why should we people feel shy and shame on doing our favorites? Therefore I would like to say that don't hesitate on doing your favorite things.

Here I would like to put forth a quote by Chanakya that straight trees are always cut first which he meant as honest people are screwed first. Why should the honest people screwed? Let here the straight trees be those people who are not flexible with the societies rules, straight trees be those people who are adamant, straight trees be those people who are selfish. There are the ones who need to be screwed out into a right manner as a good citizen of our country.

Hence I would like to end up my speech by saying that Be bold and live your life as you wish and don't change your attitude for anyone in this world.

SWETHA.S.S - IV YEAR - PASSION

I like to use the word passion interchangeably with words like determination,conviction and love.Passion is a strong desire that can get you to do amazing things.Passion is an emotion to be acted upon.Without action,passion yields no worthwhile results.Passion is the fuel in the fire of action.When you have passion for something,you recognize your passion and how do you put it to good use.I like to skateboard,but i dont have the determination to push myself through broken bones and hospiyal visits.that's why i am not as good as i could be.because i dont hav a passion for it.passion can push you through difficult times because you dint care what it takes to become better.We all have the ability to create whatever kind of life we want.The secret of living the dream is hidden in our passion and what we do because of them.

Finding what you are passionate about is a journey in itself.Don't be frustrated if you don't feel like you know yet keep trying new things.It will come even if you have to built it.If you find your passion,or find yourself hot on its base,dont give it up.What if you know,What you have a passion for but you don't do anything about it?This is the main problem with passion.you can have all the passion in the world for something but if you never do anything about it,that passion is useless.Maybe you work in a good job,that pays all the bills,but it doesn't allow you to truly follow your passion.you're afraid of what will happen if change things uo.Yes,change is scary,but its not until we leave our comfort zone that we find what we've been missing out on your the author of your life.Dont setttle for the base maximum,just because its working out right now.

I conclude by saying Find your passion.Push your limits.Live your life happy.Even when you oersue your passion,you will find yourself tripped up by failures and other ostacles.You cant let that get to you,because it happens in everyone's life.Stay tuned and have a self confidence and go ahead.

A very pleasant afternoon to one and all gathered here. Myself Varshini from the department of Information Technology, gonna speak on the topic Music is not just music, It's a lifestyle.

Music is the greatest creation of man, which touches the soul and also helps man to sympathetically manifest unspoken desire and humanity in him. The effect of music in man is what that separated him from other animals. Indeed, due to the power of music in the heart and bone marrow of human being, it can draw millions of people from different parts of the world and uplift them emotionally. For that reason, music can easily be used as instrument of peace when there is chaos between people of different origin and background.

Whether you are music enthusiast or not, the best way you can express your feelings, anger, love, passion, joy and other kinds of feelings is simply through music. It is rightly said that when words and letters failed the best option is music. In most cases, doctors and therapists normally recommend soft music for their patients. This is because, with the effect of the music in the heart and entire being of a sick person, there will be revival of hope of living, joy of existence and happiness in the mind of the sick person making it easy for the him or her to respond positively to treatment.

At last, since music is such a big part of our lives, it would be interesting and useful to have a look at some of the ways we react to it without even realizing and how music benefits your brain.
