NIVEDHA SRI. A. P - CHATBOT - A SIMULATED HUMAN

"Technology is embedded within us and we pave way for wiser products"

1. What is a chatbot?
A chatbot is nothing but a computer code that helps in simulating a human partner in conversations. The chatbot meets the real time expectations of human beings. This has qualified the famous Turing test, which checks for the intelligence criteria of the computers. Computational thinking involves both science and society and so does a chatbot. Many things are made easier by means of computers and its related components. A computer can be made to do anything and everything as per the needs of the modern world. Chatbots are interactive agents which lets us understand the human behavior.

2. Why a chatbot?
A chatbot takes in a set of words as its input and assists in typing a response based on the input gathered. For example, if a person types in the word "bread" then chatbots analyze the word and sends a response related to that word such as "jam" in the conversation. Thus the flow of words is studied and relevant responses are generated which makes messaging apps more intelligent. "The sense of understanding the person on the other end is created by means of chatbots" Though the process involves a simple operation, its significance is proven in many fields. The gap between a human and the system is greatly reduced by means of chatbots. The environment becomes more communicative and predictable. Third party involvement is facilitated to gather user details and generate the appropriate data. Many applications use chatbots in order to give the feel of understanding to human beings. Natural Language Processing is also used in chatbots to eliminate the use of complex coding syntax. The simplest answer for the question "why chatbots?" would be that chatbots sense user experience details and serves as a helping hand for many marketing and tracking fields to enhance their functionality.

3. Chatbot's significance:
Customer's mind reading is the need of the hour
Customer engagement via prediction is the goal of every product. Competition becomes higher day by day in the market and the success rate of a product is directly proportional to customer satisfaction. Marketing strategies become successful and easy to attain by means of chatbots. Many products fail due to misinterpretation of customer requirements. Prediction using chatbots can help us find what the customer really wants based on his/her word patterns. Promotion can be done appropriately. Making a successful product is highly dependent on converting the customer requirement into technical requirements. More efficient delivery can be made based on the chatbot information retrieval. Many surveys have been conducted to prove the significance of chatbots. There are surveybots also, through which we can create surveys with different types of questions. "Bots understand by means of just a click - simple. aren't they?" Multiple chatbots are used by many firms to monitor user experience and act according to the necessity of the users. Imagine you are installing a software, but you are facing some hurdles midway. A chatbot can help you in resolving the issues you face by providing support. Help guidance is offered in a timely manner. By means of a chatbot, many functions can be performed to aid proper guidance and simulation. The importance of chatbots are highly felt in B2C businesses. They are also enterprise oriented and hence they are widely used in cloud based applications. There are many steps involved in creating chatbots. The overall interaction must be carefully designed to aid proper support to the end users. There are many approaches depending on the input gained from the user.

4. Chatbot and AI make the best pair:
Cloud providers offer platforms to create efficient chatbots. Artificial intelligence is embedded into chatbots to make the work as simple as possible. The main motive of AI is to make the computers think out of the box with less input fed into them. Background work must be done effectively to make the implementation successful. "AI makes the system compete with human beings with respect to intelligence and independency" Chatbots and AI together can warn us about an upcoming disaster such as floods or drought. They can also buy a product for us based on our desires. They can book a flight ticket when we are in an emergency. Knowingly or unknowingly, all of us have interacted with these robots in our everyday activities and operations. Various step by step and coding can be done by means of chatbot technology. Imagine you are installing Talking Tom in your phone for you baby brother to play. There also chatbot is involved to make your brother's interactions into suitable responses. It can mimic users, which is of the greatest significance. "No more training your systems with complex syntax. Just sit back and enjoy the way it performs" Machine learning can pave way towards many more interesting features. Let us consider the user is very angry due to a delayed delivery. Machine learning concepts can help the system sense the emotions of the user and respond in an appropriate tone which can mitigate the anger. This can prevent the customers from relinquishing to a particular extent. When this feature is combined with chatbots, it will turn out to be a huge success in the near future. In the later years, we will not be able to recognize whether we are talking to one of our friends or a chatbot. Distinguishing among a system and a person will be a tougher job.

5. Kudos to the smartest bots:
Though we have not achieved the highest level of accuracy in chatbots as of now, researches and consistent efforts can create smartest chatbots very soon. Chatbots do a lot more like helping you with banking, pleasing your customers and delivering an efficient content "Out bot friends can help us perform simpler tasks while they take up the complex tasks on the line" Chatbots can also perform crazy stuffs like making you gather more followers on your Instagram account. So dudes, it is high time. Let us all wake up to a smarter world. But it is also our duty to take a pledge to use all these only for a good purpose. Else, we might probably land up being in mtv's troll police getting screwed up.

SAJETHA. S - SAFETY PIN

Are women safe in India? we cannot drown out the fact that India is one of the un safest countries in the world especially for women.women always have that sense of fear when they are alone in the cities of India. women in India usually don't feel safe while taking public transport especially in the evenings. As cases of crimes against women continue to rise,a map based app, safety Pin app is taking baby steps to make women feel safer in the city.

The idea of app is that anyone anywhere in the city can see the safety score. The app lets users to know which areas of cities are safe, unsafe or moderately safe. The app uses crowd sourcing to rate the locations based on nine factors including gender balance, presence of security, lightning and so on. The app also acts as personal GPS allowing users to be tracked or to trace their loved ones. What safety Pin demonstrates is that by combining the power of connectivity with a will to collaborate so that we can make safer neighborhoods and cities a reality. Using the kinds of apps we can engage in the process of creating safety because once more and more people get involved and engaged with the issue of safety this will begin to change the behaviour of people and the will create safer cities.

SRIRAM. K - VIRTUAL REALITY

The year is 2016 and me being a major in information technology I was curious and came to know there is a new technology arising. And this technology was called virtual reality.

There was a time at school days where I thought " Matrix " was totally from imagination and it could not be real. But Technology once again proved me wrong.

Virtual World:
Four Key Elements of Virtual Reality
1. Virtual World

Virtual reality a medium composed of interactive computer simulations that sense the participant's position and actions and replace or augment the feedback to one or more senses, giving the feeling of being mentally immersed or present in the simulation (a virtual world).
2. Immersion

It's basically an experience. Artificial reality perceives a participant's action in terms of the body's relationship to a graphic world and generates responses that maintain the illusion that his or her actions are taking place within that world.
3. Sensory

Feedback Simplified version of sensory feedback is basically getting inputs in the form of sensation with the virtual environment that is being projected to us.
4. Interactivity

And basically from a student's point of view interactivity is the combination of sensory feedback and the virtual reality that is being projected. as far as virtual reality is concerned the interactivity stage is the state that we see and experience in consider as an output.

The application of virtualism
Here is a list of the many applications of virtual reality:

Virtual Reality in the Military
Virtual Reality in Education
Virtual Reality in Healthcare
Virtual Reality in Entertainment
Virtual Reality in Fashion
Virtual Reality in Business
Virtual Reality in Engineering
Virtual Reality in Sport
Virtual Reality in Media
Virtual Reality and Scientific visualisation
Virtual Reality in Telecommunications
Virtual Reality in Construction
Virtual Reality in Film
Virtual Reality Programming languages

The possibilities are endless as a first year student I could see all the powerful implementation of these domains.
Technology always has two faces ...but being optimistic i hope virtual reality may change our lives once and for all

VARSHINI. G - BLUE EYE TECHNOLOGY

Have you ever experienced a situation where you are so lonely that you have no one to talk with and felt that how will it be if computers talk to us? The concept of Blue eye technology comes here which overcomes this issue. Through this Blue eye technology humans can interact with computer as we interact with each other. Blue eye technology is an innovative idea through which computer can sense the emotional levels of the user and can act accordingly. For instance, if a person is in a sad or depressed mood it will just console him. On the other hand if the person is in a happy mood it will enjoy the mood with him. This concept is introduced because in foreign countries if a child is alone in his/her house, to overcome his loneliness he/she may get addicted to bad habits. But if there is a system which can accompany them, they can overcome their loneliness to some extend. So we can prevent people from getting addicted to bad habits.
Blue eyes technology consist of,
1. Mobile measuring device or Data Acquisition Unit
2. Central System Unit
3. The Hardware

Types of Emotion Sensors used in Blue Eyes Technology:
For Hand - Emotion Mouse:

Using Blue eye Technology the machine can sense the emotional level the human beings by the way they touch the keyboard. This can be done with the help of emotional mouse. This emotional mouse is an input device which gets the input from the user by the way they touch the keyboard. The sensor will sense the touch of the user and will take it as input. For example if a person is very angry he will touch the mouse hastily. So the sensor will identify the person is so angry and will try to calm him. The main objective of the emotion mouse is to gather the physical information and the emotion of the mouse through a simple touch.
For Eye - Expression Glass:

Expression Glass is an alternative for the usually available machine vision face or eye recognition methods. By analyzing pattern recognition methods and facial muscle variations, the glass senses and identifies the expressions such as interest or confusion of the user. The prototype used for this glass uses piezoelectric sensors. Piezoelectric effect means converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Similarly this sensor converts the muscular variations into electric pulse and takes it as an input.

Blue eyes system provides technical means for monitoring and recording human operators physiological condition
1. Visual attention monitoring
2. Monitoring pulse rate, blood oxygenation of the user, operator's position detection
3. Physiological data, operator's voice and overall view of the control room recording recorded data playback

It is widely used in various industries like power plant control rooms, Flight control centers, Professional drivers.

Hence the Blue eyes technology ensures a convenient way of simplifying the life by providing more delicate and user-friendly facilities in computing devices. Now that we have proven the method, the next step is to improve the hardware.

KEERTHANA SREE. V - A ROBOT THAT YOU CAN RELATE TO

Personal robots, such as Amazon Echo and Google Home, have come a long way in recent years. But fundamentally, they're still stationary speakers whose defining expression is a light that turns on when you speak. Jibo is different. It's not just that he-and I use the term he here, because that's how Jibo refers to himself-looks like something straight out of a Pixar movie, with a big, round head and a face that uses animated icons to convey emotion. It's not just that his body swivels and swerves while he speaks, as if he's talking with his nonexistent hands. It's not just that he can giggle and dance and turn to face you, wherever you are, as soon as you say, "Hey, Jibo." It's that, because of all this, Jibo seems downright human in a way that his predecessors do not And while that technology may seem merely amusing-or creepy, depending on your point of view-it could fundamentally reshape how we interact with machines.
Jibo still has a lot to learn. Although he can help users in basic ways, like by summarizing news stories and taking photos, he can't yet play music requests or work with third-party apps like Domino's and Uber, which, at $899, could make him a tough sell. But Matt Revis, the company's vice president of product management, is confident Jibo will evolve. "There was a threshold we had to reach in order to launch," says Revis. "Now it's part of the journey." -Lisa Eadicicco.

JENISHA J- PAPER BATTERY

A paper battery is formed by combining carbon nanotubes with a conventional sheet of cellulose-based paper.A paper can be folded cut and made into and used for various applications. It is an ultrathin device.A paper battery may also act as a supercapacitor. These provide energy of 1.5 v.These batteries can also be used as power source for human and animal applications. These batteries are a way cheaper than traditional batteries.Compared to traditional batteries these batteries are self sustaining. These papers can be integrated into several different forms such as electrochemical batteries, biofuel cells, lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and nano batteries. These batteries can be easily bent and wrapped around objects. So in this case a fixed casing is not required for these batteries. As these batteries are flat they can easily fit into tight places. This greatly reduces the weight of the device.
use of paper increases the electron flow which is well suited also for high performance. Also disposing of these batteries is also very easy and inexpensive because paper is biodegradable also these paper batteries are biodegradable.
It is also used in patterning techniques like wax printing and photolithography. The components which make these batteries are great like carbon nanotube and pattering. These are complicated and greatly expensive. This battery consists of paper combined with some nanotubes which are embedded within them gives them a lightweight, low cost, aircraft, automobiles and toys.As these employ nanotubes these are quite expensive and commercial adoption of these also require very large devices.

AISWARIYA S- DOUGLAS BADER

I am here to talk about the Great War hero and limbless champion. Bader was born in 1910 in London. His father was a civil engineer and his mother was hailed from a middle class family.
Blessed with an athletic body, he becomes an outstanding sportsman at school. He joins the RAF College. He was a rugby player and also a boxer.
One day while visiting flying club his friend ask him to show his famous Bader's roll a very dangerous stunt. But unfortunately while trying to make a flip, the aircraft wing grazed the ground and crushed violently. Due to the accident Bader's leg were smashed.
At the age of 21, he lost both of his legs but still he has hope. He began a new life with artificial limbs and new ground job. But his heart was flying in the air.
So he forces his friend to let him control the flight. His friend an airplane instructor decided to give him a chance. Bader really amazed his friend and every one there.
The Second World War broke out in 1939 and Bader had his chance. As soon as the war starts, he convinced the RAF committee that he could still fly and serve for his country. RAF agrees to take him.
He led many attacks and stole the hearts of many. He retired from the RAF committee in 1946 as a group captain. He then joined the shell again as an in charge of 7 planes. This made him to fly all over the world. He had given himself the task of helping the disabled people. He made a disabled girl to dance. He made a boy without leg to kick the football. He retired from shell in 1969.
In 1981, at the age of seventy, after more than 6000 hours in air, he surrendered his flying licence as he felt the first heart trouble and soon after two years he died.
His life story was made into a film "The Reach of sky".
I conclude by saying some words of him, if you come out of the sun the enemy could not see you. "Don't listen to anyone who says that you can't do this or that, these are nonsense. Make up your mind go anywhere you can." Rules are for the guidance of wise men and obedience of fools.

KARTHICK RAVI - HOW PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT

A very Happy morning one and all present here. I'm R.Karthick and I'm here to speak a few words about "How practice makes a man perfect " There is a popular saying in English called "Practice starts at the candle and ends in grave".Likewise,In order to succeed in life in any particular field, one need to practice regularly with full commitment and planned strategies. Getting success is not an easy phenomenon. It needs knowledge, skill and most importantly the regular practice. There is no power which can make a individual into Kapil Dev or Sachin Tendulkar over night merely through the inborn skill or complete knowledge about cricket. That individual have to go to the cricket field every day for hours to practice cricket under the guidance of a good coach to become master in the sport.Likewise,One cannot reach to the target without committed practice.Every individual should get rid of every obstacle on their path to success and should practice very hard.Because hard practice helps oneself to reach his or her goal. You need to take care of the very little mistakes to bring perfection in the same work you are doing. If we see the list of successful people, we see that there is regular practice and involvement with full commitment in their work. There is no alternate to the regular practice which can make one perfect. Without practice you can give only an average performance but not perfect performance. I conclude by saying that, Practice until you achieve your aim in your life, Practice until you become a master in your work, Practice until luxury becomes cheap.

SACHIN RAVI - STAGE FEAR

Stage fear is the fear which comes out when an individual is required perform in front of an audience. Why do people suffer during a presentation? Its because inadquate preparation, fear of being judged ,unfamilarity with the audience or the environment and finally lack of knowledge about public speaking. There are symptoms which will indicate you that you are in stage fear. They are dry mouth, sweaty hands and shivering of legs and hands. Ok let me tell you how reduce the stage fear. Concentrate on how good you are.Pretend that you are chatting with your friends.Remember the happy moments that happened before.Be extremely well prepared.listen to music before the program get started.Dont take to much of sugar before the presentation. Just move ur hands when shivering. Sit separately in a room and recall the content that you are going to speak. Practise well with your speech and give more speeches while your getting opportunities.Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to develop my public speaking skills.
