NAC-CISS’15 Exploring bright ideas in Computational Intelligence, Systems and Security

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sona College of Technology organized its 5th National Conference on Computational Intelligence, Security and Systems (NAC-CISS’15) on 10th April 2015. The conference was sponsored by IEEE Madras Section, Computer Society of India, IEEE Computer Society and conducted in association with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. Students, Researchers and Academicians had come from the nation to showcase their bright ideas on improving and enhancing Computational Intelligence, Systems, Security, Cloud Computing, Data Mining, Image Processing and Software Engineering.

The Conference kick-started at 9.30 AM with a sparkling introductory address by Dr.Usha, Dean Research/ PG, Department of CSE, Sona College of Technology. Dr.N.P.Gopalan, Professor, NIT Trichy provided the inaugural address. He touched upon the qualities for a good research thesis and was keen spreading awareness on sustainable development. Mr.H.R.Mohan, Chairman of IEEE CS provided a stunning speech with statistics on the ICT initiatives made by the Indian Government and emphasized on improving Digital Literacy. With IoT (Internet of Things) as a buzzword, it would not be perfect without a special mention of IoT in such august gathering. Mr.Murale Narayanan, Director, Technology, EMC APJ Center of Excellence, India gave an impressive presentation on “The New Digital  Era – How technology and market are shaping up our future” and educated the audience on the power of IoT, Big Data, Li-Fi and Fog Computing. Soon it was time for the authors to present their research papers and there were five different tracks ran in parallel viz. Data Mining, Networks, Internet of Things, Image Processing and Software Engineering. More than a hundred research papers were registered and 50 papers were selected for presentation based on the quality, novelty and research contribution. Enticing novel research presentations were thronged with questions form the session chairs and audience.

Dr.R.S.D Wahida Banu, Principal, Government College of Engineering, Salem,  delivered the valedictory address and it was edifying listening to her speech on the much needed revolution in the education sector. Dr.Ravi Shankar, Professor and HoD in Computer Science and Engineering at Government Engineering College, Hassan was also present in the valedictory function and appreciated the organizers for their determination, hard work and hospitality. He urged that the conference could scale much greater heights by hosting International Conferences. Participants received their certificates and the conference was a boost to the morale and commitment of quality researchers and academicians.
