Inaugural function of IEEE Student Branch and Women In Engineering were held on 12th August 2013.  Office Bearers for the academic year 2013-14 were introduced in the function.

Guest Lecture on “Low Voltage Distribution” was conducted by Mr. G. Raghavan, National Head, Renewable Energy and Business Development Energy Products Division, Raychem RPG (P) Ltd and Mr. J. Veer Raj Naik B.E., M.B.A., Manager, M/s Tyco Electronics, Raychem RPG (P) Ltd. on 17th August, 2013.

24th August 2013

A lecture has been given to the school teachers on 24.08.2012 about “Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection” by our WIE & IEEE student branch co-ordinator, Dr. S. Padma, Professor, EEE Department, Sona College of Technology, Salem-5. Around 100 school teachers and students from various schools around Salem participated in the programme.

Solar Lamp Design Workshop has been organized. Solarillion Foundation and IEEE SIGHT, Madras Section have conducted this work shop. This has been supported by Tamilnadu Energy Development Authority. Around 83 participants from various colleges attended this workshop

28th September 2013

Solarillion Foundation and IEEE SIGHT along with IEEE Student Branch of Sona College of Technology conducted an Inter College Solar Lamp Design Contest on 28th September 2013. Fourteen student batches participated in the project contest.

1st October 2013

IEEE Day has been celebrated on 1st October, 2013 at Sona College of Technology by the Student Branch.  Elocution competition has been conducted on the theme “Leveraging technology for better tomorrow”.  Photography and quiz competition were also conducted.  About 200 students of our college participated in the event. 

5th October 2013

An Intra College technical symposium “Techgrill” was conducted by the IEEE Student Branch at Sona College of Technology on 5th October 2013. Paper presentation, multimedia presentation and poster presentation events were conducted. Around 30 papers were presented by the students in two different tracks.  Multimedia presentation and poster presentation events were conducted on the topic “Advancing technologies”.

4th March 2014

The IEEE and WIE student branch of Sona College of technology conducted a National level technical symposium “CIRCUITRIX 14’’ on March 4th 2014.  Paper presentation, Multimedia presentation, Poster presentation, C debugging, Circuit Debugging, Google and 8085 events were conducted on the day of symposium.  Participants from our college and various other colleges actively participated in all the events. Around 250 students participated in the events.
