The incessant rainfall in the capital city Chennai and other districts like Kanchipuram, Vellore, Cuddalore, Viluppuram and Tiruvannamalai has changed the cities into islands of misery. With the overflowing lakes and rivers, thousands of people are left homeless or stranded in their own homes without food and water. Adding to the woe, power supply and telephone network are also suspended.
