Lecture on “Roles and Responsibilities of students in Outcome Based Education” at Dept of EEE, Sona College of Technology.

Department of EEE, Sona College of Technology organized a lecture on “Roles and Responsibilities of students in Outcome Based Education” for all students of EEE on 19.1.2016 and 21.1.2016 at EDISON Hall, SCT. The lecture was delivered by Dr.R.Shivakumar, Professor, Dept of EEE, Sona College of Technology, Salem.

Dr.R.Shivakumar gave a brief introduction on concept of accreditation for technical institutions, its merits and career growth perspective for students graduated from accreditated institutions. The main focus on outcome based education (OBE) in comparison with output based education was discussed. The various aspects of accreditation parameters like Vision, Mission, Programme Educational Objectives, Programme Outcomes, Course outcomes were discussed with sample statements for EEE UG programme at SONA.

The roles and responsibilities of students in effective implementation of OBE were discussed. The assessment tools for validation of PEOs and POs attainment namely direct and indirect assessment were discussed and analyzed for 3 sample courses of an academic year. The students shared their experience with respect to implementation of OBE in Sona College of Technology. In the end, a quiz programme was conducted by the speaker to analyze the student’s knowledge and interest in OBE implementation. Overall, the lecture was more informative and useful to students.
