As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2023 Campaign’ being observed from September 15th to October 2nd to promote cleanliness and garbage-free India, Sona College of Technology’s National Service Scheme, in collaboration with SAIL, Salem, undertook the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign on October 1st, 2023. This initiative aimed to pay homage to the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign encompassed activities in Karukkalvadi Village Temples, the Primary Health Centre, and the Government Panchayat Union Middle School in Omalur.
Mr.V K Pandey, Executive Director, Mr. Manas Rath, General Manager I/c (P&A), Mr.R Venkatachalapathy,General Manager (TA, EM&HRD) Salem Steel Plant Inaugurated the Cleanliness Campaign. Officials from SAIL, Salem, 40 NSS volunteers from Sona College of Technology & Sona College of Arts and Science and CSRI Head Mr.P.Raghupathy and NSS Programme Officers Dr.P.Iyyanar and Mr.A.Naveen Kumar actively participated in the program and took pledges along with officers.
Following the inaugural session, students were organized into three groups to cover the three designated areas. Additionally, students engaged with villagers to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic usage.
