Taking Walt Disney’s famous advice, “The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing” seriously, the students of Sona College came up with brilliant start-up ideas in the “ Power on Me” programme that was held on Sona college campus on January 29.
Power on Me is a unique platform created by Sona’s Innovation Council with the objective of igniting the entrepreneurial spark in engineering students.
On every Pournami day (full moon day), the college hosts the Power on Me workshop in which curated events trigger big business ideas in an environment of encouragement and motivation.
Five teams of students pitched several brilliant ideas in the programme.
College Vice-Chairman Thyagu Valliappa evaluated the startup ideas presented by five teams of budding entrepreneurs including students and faculty from Sona College of Technology, KSR College of Technology, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College and entrepreneurs.
An idea for making smart purchases in shopping malls, one on jaggery manufacturing and an idea on surfactants were shortlisted for support. Support would be provided to those who pitched these ideas to help them develop these ideas into usable products.
Dr.S.R.R.Senthilkumar, Principal, SCT, all the Heads of department and senior faculty members participated and encouraged the young innovators.
