A Guest lecture was organized in department of Civil engineering by Prof.R.Renuka & Prof.A.Divya for II Year UG students on 14.03.17 at ECE conference hall. The guest lecture was on the topic of “Super Structure Construction” presented by Er.V.Balaji Subbramanian (Managing director at Sri vijaya bharathi associates, Dharmapuri). Er.V.Balaji Subbarmanian has explained about the super structure construction in bridges. He explained about launching girder, erection of launching girder. He explained foundation and types of foundation for bridges. He discussed about caisson, cofferdam & their types. He discussed on the method of prestressing in bridges and erection of domes, shells. He discussed about types of bridges and construction of bridges. Finally, he finished with construction sequence of caissons & cofferdam. The students were interactive on this topic and gained knowledge on super structure construction in bridges.
