An Industry Institute enclave (IIE 2017) was jointly organized by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI), Bhopal with Institute for Environmental Nanotechnology (IENT), Delhi/Erode on 09/08/17 at Hotel LE MERIDIAN, Coimbatore. The program aims to:

  • Commercialize the CSIR technologies in construction sectors
  • Address “Make in India” & “Clean India” programs and create more business opportunities.
  • Facilitate Industry, Entrepreneurs, Start ups, Professionals in Building & Strategic Sectors.

Sona College of Technology was the main sponsor of this enclave and our Chairman Sri.C.Vallippa and Dr.R.Malathy, Dean R&D, Department of Civil Engineering was honoured and awarded for their valuable contribution to the event. About nine faculty members and a set of final year civil engineering students have attended the event and got benefited in the latest research trends prevailing in CSIR-laboratories located in India.

  • T.Ramasami, Former Secretary, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, Chennai delivered the chief guest address and inaugural address.
    • Muralidharan, Director-CGCRI, kolkatta was the guest of honor and delivered the opening address.
  • The other speakers are well known scientists from CSIR laboratories throughout India. They gave a brief presentation about
    • Geo-polymer concrete & radiation shielding materials for radiation.
    • Create new industries & Entrepreneurship for manufacturing hybrid green composite materials using industrial wastes
    • Emerging trends in Safe, Environment friendly and sustainable building materials & technologies for construction sector & Industries.
    • Intellectual property rights
    • Recycling of plastic wastes in to tiles for societal usage.
    • Precast light weight or roof panels and components for building applications.

    About 120 industries from various parts of India and around 80 Educational Institutions have participated in the Enclave. An exclusive stall was allocated to our Institution for being the main sponsor. The Civil Engineering Department R&D activities and its innovations were displayed and exhibited in the enclave’s stall.
