Smart Health:  Medical Data Mining and Innovative Applications in Patient Monitoring and  Anomaly  Prediction

Due to the recent development or maturation of database, data storage, data capturing, and sensor technologies, huge medical and health data have been generated at hospitals and health organizations at unprecedented speed. Those data are a very valuable resource for improving health delivery, health care and decision making and better risk analysis and diagnosis. Healthcare and medical service are now becoming more data-intensive and evidence-based since electronic health records are used to track individuals' and communities' health information (particularly changes). These substantially motivate and advance the emergence and the progress of data-centric health data and knowledge management research and practice.
In this talk, we will introduce innovative data mining techniques through case studies to address the challenges encountered in e-health and medical big data. This includes techniques and development of medical data streams processing, correlation analysis, abnormally detection and risk predictions with patient monitoring and aging care applications.

Nature Inspired Sustainable Developments:  Nexus of Science and Engineering

For decades the required stern separation of basic and applied research is cracking, as scientists and engineers are forced to develop new tools to confront the increasing complex challenges. The nexus between engineering and the sciences is critical, meaning a science major need their research in an engineering lab and vice-versa. The idea is to develop the “Sci-engineering” using nature inspired design applications, solutions towards a sustainable future Industry 4.0.

Complex Computational Systems

Complexity has been the key research issue for several decades in computer science, computational systems, engineering, information systems and others. However, there is a lack of systematic and structured approaches to adopting and modelling for computational systems. This is in addition to lack of consideration given for social factors and modelling and designing large scale computational systems. This talk will provide insights into complexity in current computational systems and technologies. This talk will provide examples of complexity in cloud security, big data security, large scale complex computational systems and service computing, the emergence of cloud, IoT, and Big Data Analytics.

Short Bio:

His first career started as a research scientist at India Space Research Labs where he worked on real-time systems development projects. Muthu is an author of two books: Software Components: Guidelines and Applications (Nova Publishers, NY, USA, 2008) and Software Security Engineering: Design and Applications (Nova Publishers, NY, USA, 2011). He is also an edited co-author of a book, Handbook of Research in Software Engineering (IGI, 2010) and has edited the book KE for SDLC (2011). He has widely authored published journal articles, book chapters and conferences materials on various advanced topics in software engineering and education. He received his Master's from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India. He is a member of various professional organizations and computer societies: IEEE, ACM, Fellow of BCS, and Fellow of HEA.
