Sona College of Technology celebrated its Sports Day on 13th March 2019 at the College Sports Ground. “Olympian” Mr. Sebastian Xavier was the Chief Guest for the day. Mr.M.Maran, TPT Alumnus and Mr.M.J.Dinesh, SONA Alumnus were the guests of honour.
The day started at 4.30 pm by hoisting the Olympic flag by the Chief Guest. To enliven the sports events the Olympic torch was lid our chief guest and he declared the sports meet open.
Sports events were conducted for students and staff members and they actively participated.
Mr.C.RajaVignesh (Physical Director) read the Annual sports report.
Our Principal Dr.S.R.R.Senthil Kumar presented the felicitation speech and appreciated our students for their outstanding achievements.
Our guests of honor motivated our students by their encouraging speech.
Mr. Sebastian Xavier, Chief Guest gave an inspirational speech. He pointed out the quote “Practice makes man perfect” and to achieve in sports one should have dedication and hard work. He informed that Indian Railways is in need of 900 sports persons every year for sports quota recruitment and insisted the students to utilize the opportunity by actively involving in sports.
He appreciated our vice chairmen Mr.Thyagu Valliappa for the wonderful support given to the students for the development of sports in our institution and for having such a world class sports infrastructure facilities at our campus.
Our both the Vice chairmen inspired the gathering by their diminutive speech.
Our Chairman gave the presidential address and motivated our students by his vibrating Speech. Later on, our chief guest and the dignitaries distributed the prizes to the award winners and the function ended up at 8 pm.
