The Inauguration of PG PROGRAMMES’17 was held on Monday, 28th August at 10.00am in the PG auditorium. Mr.M.Balasubramaniam, Managing Director of Black Board in Bangalore and Dr.S.Sudhakar, General Manager (HR) Roots Industries ltd at Coimbatore were the chief guest and the guest speaker for the program. Dr.M.Usha, Principal of Sona College of Technology welcomed the gathering.

The inaugural address was given by the chief guest Mr.M.Balasubramaniam. He spoke on the perspectives of the technological changes, its vast and rapid developments in the current scenario and in the distant future. He mentioned that today’s world is a VUCA (Volatility Uncertainity, Complexity and Ambiguity) world which conflates challenges that demand distinct responses. He spoke about machine learning method, an ability of the machine to learn by itself without the help of human intervention. He said that Sona College of Technology is being 2nd in India to use the black board facility. He promised that, if the students come up with good prototype and business plan, he would give a place in the entrepreneur warehouse.

Further the guest speaker Mr.S.Sudhakar spoke about human resource management and the importance of people in an industry. He told that the companies are concentrating on the quality of the people rather than the quantity because they wanted trained people rather than hiring the people and training them. He spoke about how technology has changed from 1990 to the present times.

Then the special address was given by Dr.Swarup K Mohanty, Director, Sona School of Management. He spoke on what life skills one should have to deal with the VUCA world and briefed on Goal setting. He also shared his childhood experiences which made him strong and confident in his life. He beautifully explained the value of the word ‘HOPE’ with a short story about four candles. He is the first person to introduce virtual keyboard at the B-School in Tamil Nadu.

Then two of our Alumni namely, Pranav Moorthy and Sowmiya shared their experiences, exposure, knowledge gained at Sona School of Management. They further also mentioned that, at Sona ‘Learning is a Celebration’. They encouraged the freshers to utilize each and every opportunity with the available resources to come up in life.

Finally the presidential address was given by Mr.C.Valliappa Chairman, Sona Group of Institutions. He advised students to keep learning new things every day to succeed in life.. He mentioned about the Sona awards and linked them with the vision and mission of the college.
