On 2nd March, we celebrated National Science day 2016 in a grand manner to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by the Nobel laureate Sir C. V. Raman. The chief guest for our function was Dr. R. Vijayaraghavan, Senior Professor of Chemistry & Dean, School of Advanced Sciences, VIT University, Vellore. He motivated the students on the general aspects of science and its application to technology and product development. Dr. V. S. Venkatavarathan, Former Director, Nehru Planetarium, Mumbai and former Head of Science, Sona College of Technology inspired the students on interesting topics about science inventions. Dr. C. Shanthi, HOD of Science delivered the welcome note and First year in-charge Dr. M. Renuga felicitated the gathering.
Special address and Keynote address were delivered by our Principal Dr. V. Jayaprakash and Academic Director Dr. C.V. Koushik. On account of Science day celebration 2016, several events like Just a minute (JAM), Multimedia, Science Quiz, Oratorical competition, Science working model, Science paintings, Poster presentation, debugging in C and Paper presentation were conducted. The events were conducted exclusively for the first year students. Most of the students were involved and all the deserved students were appreciated with certificates and prizes.
