The programme started at 10.30 am with the prayer song. Dr. S.R.R. Senthil Kumar, Principal, Sona College of Technology gave the welcome address. Vice Chairmen Mr Chocko Valliappa and Mr Thyagu Valliappa, in their addresses, highlighted the recent advancements in the industry sectors. The chief guest Mr Ajay Gurjar, Dy COO & Head, Yaskawa India addressed the students on “Industrial Automation and Robotics”. He spoke on the recent advancements & technological development in automation and robotics and the job opportunities available in the sector. He, along with the Chairman, inaugurated the center of excellence in “Industrial Automation” of the college. Robot moto man gave roses to the guests on the stage and the students. Suresh A Shanmugam, guest of honour, Head-Innovation & Future Technologies Business IT Solutions (BITS) from Mahindra & Mahindra addressed the students regarding the opportunities available in the Government in the start-ups and encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs. The theme of the industry day is “Industry 4.0”. The panel discussion members were Mr Jambunathan, DGM, SAIL, Salem, Mr Vijayakumar, AE, TNEB and Mr Ezhilmaran, Director, Axis Global Group of Companies and Mr Chocko Valliappa was the moderator. The discussion was on the next stage of revolution of industry, need, opportunities, challenges in implementation of the technologies. The discussion ended with the concludng remarks by Mr Thyagu Valliappa. The function concluded with the presidential address by Shri C Valliappa, Chairman.
