The one week faculty development programme on topic Soil Investigation using Plaxis Software and Site Engineering and Planning –A Practical Approach was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering to the faculties from (11.12.2017-16.12.2017). The aim of the FDP is to instill the knowledge of faculties by practical approach and aims in to foster practical approach and current trends in civil industry. The programme started on 11.12.2017 with an inauguration function followed by the technical session on Plaxis software. The introduction along with the practical applications of software was explained by the company experts. The 2nd day started with software demo on software and faculties were given training to the usage of Plaxis software.
On the 3rd day of FDP, Site Planning and execution of building was started and trainers from Prayojana Institute started the session with Project inception and bylaws. Er.Sriraman, Founder of Prayojana Institute handled the afternoon session on topic reading of construction drawing and standard methods of measurements. The next day session was continued on topics like MPCS, resource planning and formwork systems. The major part of the training involved practical approach wherein the presentation included was of live examples from many major projects. The day 5 was about reading and understanding of drawings and contract management.
The last day of training was site visit at the University block construction in Sona College of Technology campus where faculties were taken to site and explained about the activities and methods of construction undergoing. The overall training aim of the training was to cover practical approach of civil field to faculties and yet this training was fruitful to fulfill the objective. Faculties had given positive feedback about the training and suggested to conduct such more training to faculties from other colleges as well in a grand way. We thank the management and the Principal for approval of conducting this training. We also place out thank you to the Head of the Department Dr.R.Malathy who helped and supported to conduct this 1 week training in a smooth way. Finally we place out thanks to coordinators and faculties who worked together and made this training a perfect and a fruitful one during the winter vacation.
