The PG Electrical Engineering Department at Sona has three Research Centres,
- Sona SPEED – This R&D Centre works on Special Electrical Machines and its controls. This centre mainly develops specialized machines to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
- Sona PERT – This R&D centre which is specialized in High Voltage Engineering and Power Systems. The centre mainly focusses on product development consultancy and testing services to industries like National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, Magawin PVT. Ltd., Salem.
- Sona PEDAC – This R&D centre is focused on Control Actuation Systems. The centre works for Projects funded by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and UGC.
PG Students can make use of these R&D centres for projects, internship and placements in Core Industries.
Industrial interactions are often arranged for PG students which is useful to update their knowledge required for industry.
Classes are handled by experienced faculty members having doctoral degrees.
The PG Students were involved in the research projects of our R&D centres. The students were placed in Core Industries as they get in-depth knowledge in their specialized areas. They were also given opportunities to go for internships and do projects at Core industries.
