Glimpse of the Globe

In these changing times, we cannot restrict ourselves to territories and borders. Globalization is no longer a word in the dictionary .It is becoming a stronger reality day by day. We have a need to understand and interact with other cultures.

International students’ club aims at giving our students an opportunity with a platform to explore and become more comfortable with other cultures in order to make them aware and shape them into global citizens.

Sona College of Technology, Salem, because of its reputation, recognition and the cross-cultural flavour, is now emerging as a leading educational destination for international students across the globe with about 200 students from 16 countries pursuing various graduate and post graduate courses.

The ‘International Students Club’ activities of Sona College of Technology for the academic year 2008-09, was formally inaugurated on 24th September 2008. ‘Glimpse of the Globe’ was the name of the event that the Foreign National / PIO / NRI and Indian students of Sona College of Technology hosted on the inaugural day of the ISC, highlighting the cultural diversity among the students and the need for ‘Globalizing Hearts’, the theme of ISC.

A multimedia presentation by the foreign students highlighted the historical & cultural background of their countries. The formal inaugural went on with speeches from dignified personalities that included the Secretary Mr. A. Dhirajlal, Principal Dr. P. Govindrajan, Student Affairs Prof. V.S. Venkatavardhan, Dean Dr. K. Karunakaran and Director of International Admission Cell, Dr. S. Manjunathan. The cultural session of the function saw performances by students from India, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Middle East and the African countries.
