


"NRI" in this context means Non-Resident Indians as defined in Income Tax Act, 1961 with the following clarifications:
An individual is Non-Resident, when he/she is "not a resident" or who is "not ordinarily resident". A person is treated as "not ordinary resident" when any of the following conditions is satisfied.
(1) If he/she has not been resident in India in nine out of ten preceding years;
(OR)
(2) If he/she has not been in India for a period of 730 days or more during the preceding seven years.
Students of Indian origin are eligible to apply under Non Resident Indian (NRI) quota.
They may be admitted under Management quota for admission to I year B.E. / B.Tech. /B.Sc. / M.E./ M.B.A./ M.C.A. and Lateral Entry to II year B.E. / B.Tech., sponsored by their parents, brothers, sisters, uncle and aunt who are employed in aboard (as Non Resident Indian - NRI).
Minimum mark required for admission is a pass in the qualifying examination.
Candidates seeking admission under NRI quota need to produce Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) from Anna University (Annexture I). PEC is to be obtained from The Director, Student Affairs, Anna University, Chennai 600 025.
