DEFINITIONS

Sona recruits students of Foreign Nationals / Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries / Persons of Indian Origin, under the supernumerary quota with a special approval from AICTE, Govt. of India.

a) Foreign Nationals

Citizens of all Countries other than India who are not of Indian Origins as defined under PIO.

b) Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)

Persons who are citizens of the Countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian Passport or who are either of his parents are any of his grandparents was a citizen of Indian by virtue of the provisions Engineering programmes offered and of the Constitution of India or Sec.2(b) of Citizenship Act 1955 (act No.57 of 1955).

c) Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries

Children of Indian parent working in any one of the Gulf Countries.

The All India Council for Technical Education has approved the Sona College of Technology, Salem vide F-No. 730-52-292(E)/ET/97 Dt.20.08.2009 , MBA : F.No.TN-12/MCP-APR(M)/98 Dt. 20.08.2009, MCA : F.No. TN-11/ET-MCA/99 Dt. 20.08.2009 for admitting the students of Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries to the extent of 15% over and above the admission intake.
